With a small bank am looking at Pickett and Birchall out for Williamson and Dan Butler.

Was keen on Butler last week and with his BE still a healthy -42 still think he could be worth a punt.

Trades to be looked at after work tonight so discounting Collingwood and Giants although in the price range I'm looking they pretty much rule themselves out anyway.

Going into tonight with 2 plans, depending on if this chatter around Grundy is true:

1. If Grundy is a late out
Grundy/Pickett > Petracca/Williamson

2. If Grundy is not a late out
Pickett > T Green

I feel like I'm going to miss out this round because I'm not upgrading and not grabbing Simpkin or Petracca while they are still sub-$500k. Unfortunately, with no bank, I don't have anyway to get them unless I cull a premium. Makes it even worse that next week I will want to double-downgrade because of all the rookies that will be on the bubble. Timing is everything and unfortunately I don't have good timing

Righto, I'm happy to be finally able to do my 1st real upgrade of the season.

Noble > Williamson
Long > Simpkin/Petracca

Anybody has any strong views between Simpkin & Petracca?
Ideally both will be in my team this season but can only choose 1 atm.

Thanks!

How strong is this chatter? Any sources?

I'm going Simpkin as he could become out of reach sooner.
If Whitfield stinks it up again he could make way for Trac next week

Usually don't like criticizing people's trades unless they ask for feedback but geez all you people bringing in Butler this week are off your rocker.
D Butler:
2020:
1st for Total Tackles Inside 50
7th for Total Tackles
8th for Tackles Per Game

115 and 124 over the past fortnight with a breakeven of -42.

4 goals this season (2 in RD2= 115 and 2 in RD3= 124)

Consecutive scores of 84 will see him rise $85,000 at the end of RD5 to approximately $430,000.

I wouldn't say I have strong views either way but I would favour Petracca slightly as Simpkin could be in for some closer attention from opposition given his hot start to the year.
Trac looks capable of a monster score or two like he put up in the pre season also.
In saying that I may end up bringing Simpkin in this week (already have Trac).
Best of luck whichever way you roll

Think at NTH Simpkin is still behind Higgins and Cunnington for any attention though.
Was initially going Petracca this week, but slight change of trade plans (due to Bont now being out of my price range) sees me going Simpkin this week, then Petracca next.

Oh by the way just a note of caution for those bringing in Williamson like me.

His JS might not be as solid as everyone is saying.

A certain Caleb Marchbank might have something to say about it in due course, listed as 1-3 weeks in the most recent injury list i have seen from 23 June.

Yeah probably right. Nice plan! They both look like value top 8 fwd picks so I don't think you can go wrong with them barring injury or heavy tags (touches wood frantically after last weeks carnage)

His other 43 games? Plus a whole lot in the VFL.

Papley and Cameron are the best small forwards in the league and they went at ~80 last year.
I think those that are only bringing him in for the stepping stone + less rookie on field. Rookies seem to be only making 70-100k before being injured/omitted. At this stage he is guaranteed games and with another spike score will go 100k+ in 2 weeks.

T Papley: 18/79 with 5 or more tackles (22.78%)
C Cameron: 19/102 with 5 or more tackles (18.63%)
D Butler: 14/45 with 5 or more tackles (31.11%)

Stepping stone to Whitfield requiring minimal cash and assume he will only be a 1-3 week rental occupying F4-F6.
