What are we thinking on strategy in this comp?

I can’t see full premium being anywhere near possible, given pricing and cash generation alongside trade numbers.

My good rookies are in the $3-400k range, and the top premiums are $700k and above - so unless we’re doing two down, one up, I can’t see how we can afford a lot of the dearer guys. The trade constraints means unless we don’t want more than about 4 upgrades, every two down won’t work.

Personally I’m inclined to look for players with role changes and/or injury scores, and load up on mid types as much as I can, but forgetting about the top priced names like Gawn.

Someone like Bailey Smith would be perfect ... if I hadn’t brought him in just before his concussion!

Duncan and maybe Parfitt others that might fit the bill. Anyone else that people have their eye on?

I think you are spot on with looking for value (although I don't have Gawn and may well move heaven and earth to get him at some stage - he is my one exception!) patient trading from here on out to maximise value and be prepared for the inevitable carnage to come i think is key. THose that are patient will be rewarded unless they change the rules and give everyone more trades!

I'm just having a quick look at my team in reply to these strategy posts.
I currently have 17 'premium' players I would be happy to carry for the season, and 3 'donuts' I am happy to carry.
That leaves 10 players to generate cash for upgrades, currently valued around $3,000,000.
So I need 5 more players to get to 'full premo' which will cost around $4,000,000.
I have 15 trades left so in a perfect world I could do 2 down, 1 up for every upgrade needed.
That means I would need every 'cash cow' to get to around $380,000 before I could trade them out so I have enough to spend on the upgrades.

Possible - Yes
Likely - No

So the trade off is either bringing in cheaper 'premos' or being happy with say 20 rather than the full 22.

Its going to be quite the balancing act but I would really want to have at least 5 trades going in to the last 3 rounds just in case of injuries, so in saying that almost by default I'm probably going to fall short of a full 'premo' team.

Hi guys,

First time posting here, some of you on here know me as Bunga from other footy forums, looking forward to contributing on this forum. Really like some of the threads I have just gone through - some outstanding fantasy footy minds on here & the research is amazing. The other aspect I like is the respect shown to each other hence the appeal in joining.

In other news, the reason for me posting in this thread is my team is NN2KellyFFC is currently ranked 4th overall. I had Grundy as captain this week, meant to take Neale's VC score but got caught up at work so missed the deadline to make the switch lol... oh well

SC is my main game, play DT for some fun - I have never scored so well in previous years so maybe I am starting to learn what players to pick in this game

Anyway, look forward to contributing to this forum (y)

Welcome @Shannon - we are a nice bunch in here and welcome aboard! Congratulations on your rank too - a flying start. I find RDT a nice distraction from the pains of SC and for some reason I seem to do better in DT - if only we could all take SC less seriously maybe it would help!

Hey bunga think there's a few other guys from ffc on here too.

Agree with the part about the respect people show each other around here, very friendly bunch and some good non afl fantasy threads as well.

Really need one of King , Starcevich & Taylor to miss this week so I can trade out the other 2.
You would think King's BE of 28 v the crows is pretty easy to reach.
Taylor too has a BE of 45 which he would normally hit so he is probably not a must trade either.
Starcevich probably loses some more cash with a BE of 58 so he likely continues a freefall unless he is dropped or gets back to a free scoring role.

Thanks for that I was just looking on TooSerious and they had their BE around 90+ for them all.

Makes things easier , think Starcevich will be dropped.
