WEIGHTMAN IN MIX FOR WESTERN BULLDOGS DEBUT

First-round draft pick Cody Weightman will be considered for his AFL debut on Friday night as the Western Bulldogs prepare to play Essendon off a five-day break from their horror loss to Carlton.
Coach Luke Beveridge last week said the No. 15 draft pick impressed in the Dogs’ scratch match against North Melbourne and was in the conversation at selection.
The Bulldogs did not hold a practice match on the weekend but their non-selected AFL players are expected to play the Bombers on Friday.
While Weightman is a chance to become the club’s fourth debutant this year, fellow small forward Sam Lloyd is also in line to return to the side now he’s back in full training from a broken collarbone.
Hayden Crozier will return from suspension and Josh Dunkley took another step forward at training on the Gold Coast on Tuesday when he resumed running, but he is still about a month away from playing due to an ankle injury.
