Strategy Round 7: Trades

Hey guys,
So I made the mistake of starting the year with Naismith and didn't have trades to spare for Pittonet...
So now I'm in a position where I'm flush with cash and need to make a ruck upgrade.
I have Grundy already and am tossing up between:
Gawn 753k (pricey, though will be a keeper)
Goldstein 685k (max cash, not sure if he can sustain, POD at 5.4%)
O'Brien 532k (value, should maintain 105 average, may hit higher. Probably a 'safe' choice)
Marshall 532k (value, potential to rise - competing with Ryder? Has averaged 110+ in a reg season before)
Less inclined to go with
English 553k - Young, inexperienced, will be better in the future
Naitanui 495k - Injury prone, more chance to be rested with short turnarounds between some rounds?
Does anyone have an opinion to share?

I had 7 non starting players last week, which is killing my cash generation and ability to cover outs.
Thinking anyone not named last week or this week is in the firing line, ie Noble, Brander, Rivers, McInerney, Sturt.
2 will go to fund this week's trade.
This means players like Starc & Taylor are safe for a week, even if they leak cash.

Sturt seems to be well liked at Freo. If he didn't keep tripping over his ankles he'd play every week I think.
McInerney could well be back for a while with JPK and Heeney out.
Brander is battling some soreness but once through seems to have a place in the side as well.
So Noble would be first to chop for me, then Rivers, then the rest.

Yep, agree with your assessment.
Sturt's likely return is hard to gauge, as Freo injury times have been a bit unreliable.
While McInerney is a good chance to come in, if he misses now, he's probably fallen out of favour.
Brander seams to be likely to return once he's over his injury.
As this is going to take at least 3 weeks to clean out, it's good to try and get the order right, as invariably someone I cull will make an appearance the following week.

Looking at Starcevich/ Taylor out and Day/ Simpson in. Will leave me $418k next week to fund Gawn and Bailey Smith from Pittonet and
Dev Smith. Those 2 trades would leave me:
Def: Lloyd, Docherty, Sicily, Ridley, Doedee, Day (Brander, Rivers)
Mid: Neale, Danger, Bont, Cripps, Menegola, McGrath, Pickett, Simpson (McInerney, Brown, Bennell)
Ruck: Grundy, Pittonet (Conroy)
Forward: Walters, Simpkin, Petracca, Whitfield, Dev Smith, King (Sturt, Aarts)
The obvious risk is not getting Rankine. Also rather short with rookies in FWD and DEF. I’m hoping Day can grab some quick cash along with Simpson. If my trading goes to plan I’ll be left with King, Day, and two of McInerney, Pickett, Bennell and Simpson to upgrade.
