I was going to do the standard Starcevich and Taylor to Rankine and Simpson, but the coming chaos has me thinking it might be time to get rid of the dead weight instead. Who needs cash generation when you have no idea who might have the bye or get injured next?

Rowell > Simpson and D Cameron > Rankine? Cameron could still be useful but I think it's fair to say Collingwood don't think he's much more than backup for Grundy if they won't give him another chance to not mark the ball better than Cox. Not that I blame them, he's clearly not a forward.

Thoughts on going for a Bailey Smith type a round early since I have to trade out two premos? Or do I just cop the down scores and take the rookies as they come this week?

Heeney - > Rankine

then wait for the rest of the teams , might just be a case if they are picked play them and not worry about losing $$$
Yep, the longer the week goes on the more the percentage that I keep Starcevich rises.

And a worrying thought that has creeped into my head, what happens (for those of us with no DEF cover as it is) if Starcevich is dropped/rested by the Lions? Witherden is in the wings, and Starcevich has had a couple of quiet weeks (and big hits).

FYI not trying to scare anyone, I've go no info on the Lions, but it's just a thought that has creeped into my mind over the last couple of days.

I actually think Starcevich will be dropped.

I need 1 of Starcevich/Rivers , Noble (Emergency) or Williams to play to avoid a D donut.

Have Brown , Sloane on my mid bench so hoping Rivers or McInerney to avoid a donut there.

Ceglar & Heeney both out up forward , so need Brander to return and hope Taylor is actually ok to play.

Obviously have 2 trades to use but think I will have 20 playing this week.

And that's if there are no surprises tomorrow night in selection.

lol ... I actually attempted to gain Witherden in my SCSUL side this week .... had exactly the same thought process in mind ....

- IMO too good not to be playing but on the other hand Starcevich hasn't really done too much wrong (development wise) but I can hear the knocks on the door for a possible "managed" break ..

I'm pretty sure Witherden's best chance at getting a game is if Birchall needs a rest. He got exposed defensively in finals last year which is why I think the quicker and stronger Ah Chee and Starcevich have been preferred.

Ah Chee had looked pretty scratchy prior to last week whereas Starcevich's form has been more consistent. Fagan tends to be very patient with players who aren't just injury replacements so I don't think they'll make a change this week.

I want both Simpson and Rankine but it doesn’t balance with my side unfortunately so i think i will pass and pay higher next week on both or at least Rankine if they perform well again .
Starc out to Day/ Stod or mcpherson
The potential for Best 18 and 3 trades during byes as well as use of dpps in the guts could o***et this a little.

Was all set on Ceglar > Rankine and Starcevich > Simpson but I’m getting very tempted to pass on Simpson and do Pittonet > Gawn instead.

Very hard to be patient with so much cash in the bank and no solid captaincy shouts outside of Grundy (I ended up with Doc C last Sunday night)
This was my thinking too, but I'm now leaning the same way.

Was going Ceglar to Rankine and Noble to Simpson.

Then Gawn and B Smith for Taylor and Pittonett next week

Gawn is showing no sign of slowing down and is not going to get any cheaper in the short term so might just bite the bullet and do:

Celgar to Rankine and Pittenott to Gawn and be done with it

Do I grab Simpson and Rankine this week and wait for Gawn next week or go this week.

Thoughts welcome?

I think Pitt has come to the end of his money making days (having said that he might pull a 150 to spite me) and missing on those sweet Gawn points/potential captaincy. I did Pitt to Gawn/ Rowell to Rankine this week, so Celgar & Pitt to Rank/Gawn would be my move.

My thoughts are that Simpson will play another 2 games max, earn you about $100k and then be another rookie stranded on around $230k. So I would go Pitt>Gawn. Plus there looks to be quite a few rookies debuting this week, and if Gould or WCE BJ Williams are named, I will be very keen on picking either up.

Can anyone see a case for Mitch Hibberd over any of the other 4 rookies being mentioned this week.

Had it 19 times (9 contested being 3rd best tally for Essendon), 5 tackles. Still just $ 144.8 K.
I think his JS is probably pretty good, which would make him 3rd for me behind Rankine & McPherson. Simpson & Day both look good but their JS is terrible. This week with all the uncertainty around fixtures and format, now requires an ultra conservative mindset IMO, 1up 1 down and only get Rankine.
