Footy every day: Dogs-Tigers clash kicks off fixture frenzy
https://www.afl.com.au/news/468187/footy-every-day-dogs-tigers-clash-kicks-off-fixture-frenzy
RICHMOND and the Western Bulldogs will kick-off a Big Bash-style 20 consecutive days of AFL matches on Wednesday week.

The Tigers-Dogs game, to be played Wednesday July 29, two days after the completion of round eight, will be the first of 33 matches to be jammed into rounds nine to 12 of the 2020 season.

Double headers will occur on the Thursday nights in round nine and 10, on the Monday night of round 11, and on the Wednesday night of round 10.

Within the condensed fixturing, North Melbourne will be scheduled to play in Hobart in rounds 11 and 12.

GWS and Sydney will head to Perth for a block of matches, after Collingwood and Geelong return after round nine.

As part of the agreement of players to subject themselves to four-day breaks during rounds 9-12, the AFL has allowed for clubs and players to finalise contract negotiations.

Being able to strike that deal was important to the players, for professional security reasons, given the extraordinary circumstances they are working under in the COVID-19 interrupted 2020 season.

Essendon senior coach John Worsfold says Sam Draper and James Stewart are in the mix for selection for Sunday's clash with the Crows at Adelaide Oval.

Stewart hasn't featured at senior level since 2018 after battling groin injuries, while Draper is in line for his AFL debut after recovering from a knee reconstruction.

Both have impressed in the Bombers' past two scratch matches, offering Worsfold the option of an extra tall against the Crows.

"We'd be comfortable to bring him (Stewart) into the side with the hitouts he's had. He's not going to be at his best for a period of time, but that doesn't mean he can't perform well. We just think he'll be at his best when he's had a few (senior) hitouts," Worsfold said.

"We've also got the option to look at playing an extra ruckman who can spend some time up forward.

"We haven't got to the point of comparing the mix. If we decide on an extra tall to either assist or give us another big fella down forward, we'll weigh up what we think we need.

"If we're going to play two (ruckmen), we've got Draper ready to go now and pretty excited about waiting for his opportunity. Phillips and Bellchambers are also ready to go."

Thanks Herbie, heard it on the way home from work, hope he gets his s@#@it sorted soon. ? But really hope he's ok. I didn't think I'd be getting a donut before the bye rounds. Playing 1st up tomorrow I'll have to decide whether to sideways, hold, upgrade or downgrade. Definitely need to think carefully or just burn my trades, who knows they may give us an extra 2-3 for end of season.

Wouldn’t mind Hugh Greenwood in my side, but I don’t think I’m prepared to pay 550k for him.
Its weird,I thought the same but brought him in last week as his contested numbers just stack up.
Must admit he is a pleasure to watch as he gets clearances & if he doesn't he tackles like a machine.
Just don't watch him kick,it ain't pretty.
