ok, will be looking forward to what you can do. im eager to learn and thank you for giving me some of your time
Hi there, this is a great community isn’t it. I joined in 2014 and since then my overall ranking has gone from the mid 30 thousands to my current 5,000 odd (we’ll overlook 2018’s 80,000 if that’s okay with everyone).

For the first few years I just read every thread going. Didn’t understand most of it :)

But slowly my supercoaching has improved, and it’s almost completely due to this site. Lately I’ve been commenting here and there, but mostly I just read all the top drawer info everyone provides.

I can recommend the weekly C/VC, trades, and in-game discussion threads of course, but also Questions for Rowsus (remarkable), Player X v Player Y, Rate My Team (pre-season), and the specific Rookie, Mids, Rucks, and Forwards threads. All rolled gold imo.

EDIT: and the Defs thread

Best of luck in your SuperCoach journey to the 50k!

I'll have a look and get back to you with 'my' take on what's best for your team going forward.
There's not much to work with from my initial observation so I may have to look at some drastic dissecting in order to balance out the investment in your team.
ok, will be looking forward to what you can do. im eager to learn and thank you for giving me some of your time
Firstly, let me start off with a few observations of your current R10 team.
  • Pretty much non existence bench with 6 x $102K players
  • Only 13 Keepers despite using 22 trades - How many of those 13 were in your starting team...?
  • You have a real lack of the core 1st or 2nd waves of Rookies
This has lead me to believe that you started with a lot of those $102K players, purely as a cheapest bench options. Your trading looks to me to be mostly centred around swapping your on-field 22 from week to week. There is a real lack of focus (or no focus at all if I was to be blunt) on starting or trading in 'cash generating' Rookies. The combination of these factors has lead you to where your team current sit, and unfortunately in a shortened season, there's not much rounds/trades left to bring it to satisfactory completion.

Upon digesting your team and trying to understand/predict how you've been going about it with regards to your strategy, I thought about 2 options which I could offer: 1) Continue adopting a 'Best 22' approach by treating those players as a revolving door from round to round or 2) Try and get some cash generation into your team, plus getting some bench coverage. I decided to proceed with Option 2 as this will lead you to hopefully enjoy the remainder of your SC experience for 2020.

Please see below for my suggested trades over the next 2 rounds. This will enable you to field 22 in a Best 18 scenario for R11 and a reasonable 22 from R12 onwards with some bench coverage, plus you'll have some cash generating players to help you to upgrade without the need for swapping players in & out.

Post R12 with 6 trades and minimal cash ITB, you basically have 2 path forward in regards to how you want to bring your team to completion. I've highlight your R12 Keepers, of which there are 15. Going the traditional route (1 downgrade + 1 upgrade) will increase your Keepers to 18. Another option is to trade out 1 of your high priced Keeper and a max out Rookie to get 2 'value' Keepers. For example, trading out Neale & Pickett for a Gaff & Boak types or trading out Petracca & Aarts for Simpkin & BSmith. The latter approach will hopefully give you 21 Keepers.

I stress that this is but one suggestion from one set of eyes and the intent is merely to provide you with one possible pathway forward. Ultimately it's your decision on how you choose to proceed but I would advise strongly on immersing yourself more to the numerous threads we have going on this site to get some ideas and thoughts on what 'other' coaches are planning and thinking with regards to their trades.

One further advise I would like to provide whilst I'm at it is to start as many PLAYING Rookies as you can in your starting team as they are the essential building blocks to your SC season. Plan and use your trades with a focus on 'increasing' the number of Keepers on your team and avoid swapping Keepers as much as practical. By adopting these 2 simple rules, I'm confident that you'll find SC'ing much more enjoyable.

Hope that helps to focus your thinking on what you need to do from hereon and that the season will end on a better note for you. Keep on reading what other coaches have to say on this forum and you'll find yourself an expert in no time (read post #182 just above mine...Thanks @Frank (y)). I look forward to tracking your progress for the many years ahead...

Legend! Great to have you. Thanks for sharing. It is a wonderful community isn't it? My game has also improved owing to this site and it gives me lots of reading to do during the week. So much food for thought, constantly.

I reckon I will be going
Simpson > Cripps
Rankine > Simpkin
Noble > Watson

Team will look like this: Screen Shot 2020-08-07 at 9.48.21 pm.png
Only have the 2 mid upgrades to go. However, with the quality of the rookies I have remaining, and the lack of cash in the bank, think I will be using at least 5 of those remaining trades to be able to get anyone in.

I freaked out when the site went down the other day, it was like I was wearing a blindfold, or standing in a heavy fog. I mean, I actually had to pick my VC and C myself!!!!!!

(Went with Titch but it was a fluke)

Slingshotting Josh Kelly is most likely my move this week as well. Overpriced and frankly overrated as a player.

Kelly, Simpson, Cameron -> Simpkin, Fyfe, Schoenberg.

OK, have done

Out: Quaynor, King
In: Cripps, Watson

3rd would be Bennell to Schoenberg, but without knowing the Adelaide team ahead of time I might just sit on the trade.

Don't forget to do something about your captain and vice captain. They play each other 2nd game!
