I got a FD in at round 4. And up in till the byes so six was having two goes at the rookies.
Counted the times i used the FD and when there wasn't another player i could of done it with and i have been about 200 better off. But also the safety at having the double chance at the start with rookies is a great way to play. Will be doing it from round one next year.

Gotta agree its the captain loophole and second go at the rookie score which makes it so beneficial. Not sure how many points have separated 1st from second over the years but if there's 50 points to be gained, having a floating donut could potentially be the difference.

Hopefully with Dangerfield a possible inclusion this week it will leave me with two of Tmitchell, Priddis and Fyfe on the midfield bench this week.. I wish someone else got injured so that I could loophole!

But will be able to choose between Walker and Ellis' score via Staker, alternatively take Gawn's half-time score (vs GWS) over Walker with Cox moving forward or to the bench for Nicholls. Would have rathered my forward emergency to be JJK, but McBean is unfortunately playing quite early this week...

Just had a random thought. If SC has 33 players and increased bench next year like we all suspect, does that make the floating donut more valuable as the common view against using one is the loss of player coverage/cash cow by keeping a non-playing DPP in your team.

If the game structure (rolling lockout) is exactly the same then the answer for me is a "yes".

I didn't start one last year but did bring in Mcbean to rucks not only for flexibility but with a Rowe late in the year they became floating donuts if sorts.

BTW love the new footmark. Rd 8 does not get any better no mater how much I look at it.

Haha yeah until I can memorise the MBRs, it's gonna have to stay there :D

I'm almost locked on it i think. I think rookie prices might even be a consideration and there will be a need to loop hole mid pricer DPP's as well.

EDIT: Of course it's in the rookies' thread. I'll go read it now. oops

Haven't seen a floating donut thread for 2017 yet, although it probably exists.

I didn't start a floating donut last year - 2016 ... and feel I missed valuable points each week early on. In the end I took Zaharkas in round 5 or something like that (ouch), rather than Selwood, so it didn't really matter in the end. Actually, it was really just the first four or five rounds I felt I needed the floating donut, as after that I had plenty through the course of the year to allow loopholes etc. Does that make sense?

Thinking of Jarman from Adelaide M/F this year. Any thoughts? I would like someone destined to play, but who is out of the side initially with either M/F or F/B flex.

So it's f/m's Jarman ADE, Maynard MEL, Bayok WCE, Deluca-Cardillo FRE or m/d Junker NTH, or d/f Keilty MEL, Sproule GWS.

From, Adelaider, Melbourne, West Coast, Freo, North and Giants.

Thoughts?
