She obviously doesn't watch too much cricket if she reckons from 3 test matches one single Aussie player has done enough of 'something' to make her dear little boy retire.

I do like the parting shots Swann fired at the English batsman, and how he reckons most of them have their heads too far up their ass to know it. Haha
Yeah it's a little embarrassing to be honest. I reckon it might just fire the poms up for the boxing day test though. Reckon we're in for a good one!

I was considering Mitch Marsh, but think I'll get Wright because he'll get more chance to bowl with Faulkner out for a few more games, and he opens the batting.
Mitch Marsh bats lower order and his bowling was pretty ordinary, probably due to lack of match fitness.

I'm also keen to get Maddinson, Henriques and Bopara into my side somehow for their double match. If Katich/Finch do well, I might go Hastings to Henriques on the bench.

Yep agreed, I reckon Swann would be very embarrassed that his grandma has come out and said that, I would be :)

Looking forward to it, going to the first 3 days and sitting right by the players box. Can't wait!! Go Aussies!!

Yeah I went Wright to Marsh before the lockout, then Wright goes bang!! Ended up then trading marsh to a FD to utilise Henriques score on the bench. Will now go FD to Wright, it is absolute gold that he is opening and also bowling!!

Thoughts on what I should do with Hodge? Came in at number 4 which is not ideal for BB :(

Hales, White, Finch. Hodge (Maddison)
Henriques, Hopes (Hastings)
Whiteman (Triffitt)
Bird, Murali, Cutting, Bollinger (Copeland)

Trade him to a rookie. Use Maddinson on field and use the money elsewhere. Maybe upgrading the wicketkeeper

I would give him one more week then consider trading, we can't be sure that if the Stars didn't have a great start with Wright and White, would Maxwell have come in at 3 and Hodge at 4 or Hodge then Maxwell. Either that or do what Sam said and play Maddison on the field and get in a rookie who will rise in cash.

If you don that maybe consider going Hopes to Wright to Marsh, or Bollinger to Colter-Nile (Actually both may not play due to being with the test squad).

Cheers fellas, yeah Maddison on the pine stings big time.

I'm gonna be in a difficult situation i think as i'll be away from a comp most of boxing day/night and using a phone is a pain in the ass for this type of thing. I'll have to have a good look xmas night when i'm nice and tipsy haha..nothing good can come of that though!

I must say watching a bit of the games from weekend, it does bring into your mind, future stars for higher levels of the game.

I was impressed with Lynn in a Ryobi Cup game I saw a few months ago. It had me thinking he was an outsider for Test side in not too distant future and he impressed again on weekend with hitting power. He virtually won game for Heat from losing situation. Another player I'm starting to get more impressed by is Coulter-Nile. In fact he's got something about his style that reminds me of a past Test great, except he was a Kiwi... That being
RICHARD HADLEE.. Hadlee was one of greatest pace bowlers ever and could swing the ball both ways and was not as quick as some of the really fast bowlers but more than made up with it in skill and class. He was like New Zealand's answer to Dennis Lillee. Coulter-Nile has stylish run in, like Hadlee did and not super quick but had nice rhythm the other night. Similar to Hadlee he looks to be a very very handy lower order batsman.

Coulter-Nile I actually think is in squad for Boxing Day Test. If Harris pulled up sore and did not play it would be fun to see Coulter-Nile make his debut only a few days after showing he was bowling with good rhythm. Having said that, it was only a T20 game and version of Cricket is not Test level but he still impressed me greatly with his style. Watch out for him and Lynn. They both look to have a future for Aussies in other forms of cricket in next couple of years. Maybe both can be part of us winning the one day World Cup in 12 months time. I think that is more likely where they both have an opening first.

Agreed, I am a big fan of Coulter-Nile especially. He does have some good pace, I've seen him get it up to 145km/h which is sharp enough.
Big hitter of the ball as well and is definitely no mug with the blade in hand.
Ben Cutting is the other young bowler who I am a fan of, was very close to a test debut a couple of years ago but then got an injury. Also bowls handy wheels and as seen in the Ryobi Cup can handle himself with the bat as well. Both guys to watch in the future, along with Starc, Pattinson, Bird and Cummins (If h ever gets fit). Our fast bowling stocks are pretty good!! :)

Don't forget Mitch Marsh if he can stay fit. Not too many top order batsmen who can bowl 145+ consistently!

Don't worry, I mentioned him in a post just this morning that Australia needs to make sure they look after him and avoid him having a body like Shane Watson's.

We have very vary handy bowling stocks. Once again, Bird was bloody impressive and the other guys you named we all know can do damage. It is fantastic that with them all on sidelines that Mitchell Johnson has found perfect timing to get his game in order and destroy England and we get back Ashes and Ryan Harris had managed to not break down and bowl very well too.

Having said that, I an not as impressed with Cutting bowling as I was with Coulter-Nile. Cutting looks great for T20 cricket but don't feel he would make it a Test level as a bowler. Coulter-Nile though had a touch of class I sensed that could help him make it. Plus, I loved his passion. That can really help a player take his game to another level. He clearly loves his work and therefore willing to put in work to get better and better. But once Pattinson, Starc, Bird and Cummings are all fit it won't be easy to grab a pace bowling spot in side as they all will have the front running.

Whattt..... I started with CN, god damn...
I have Joe Mennie on the bench -.-

I have tough decision to make now:
CN to Cutting, and play Katich (also allows VC loophole)
OR
Warner to Hales, and play Mennie (No VC loophole)

Actually, I could go CN to Hogg, then go Warner to Hales and still use VC loophole, think I'll do that and pass on Wright this week :)
