Find that a strange signing tbh.

Short , Wade , Malan (Ingram), Jacks , Handscomb , McDermott

Doran , Wright now Paine

At least he is a wicket keeper that can open 😀

maybe a bit of media hype , wow look the Australia captain is playing Big Bash (but Smith & Warner won't)

Interesting that the article says they have another 2 OS annoucements to make , I thought I read it was only 4 OS players this season (2 + marquee + 1 replacement)

Who benefit from these changes. I think players like DC. Just saying.
Maybe opening batsmen will go a bit harder in the second innings now, for the bonus point, so maybe bowlers bowling early get a better chance at wickets too? Not sure. The "power surge" is the most likely one to change things, it might boost the SR a bit for those batting near the end of matches. Probably might hurt the death bowlers economy rate a bit too?

I’m back and gunning for a top 10 this season! Good to see everybody throwing all sorts of team ideas around already it’s gonna. E a hectic season with so many good internationals coming and the rule changes to keep us on our toes.

So many variables to consider and different strategies to take, only thing I’m sure sure on at this point is that I will starting The big oil rig, Maxy and a Zampa or NCN or both of I can! Would be great to know who the stars and Caines batting order is going to be but that’s half the challenge and I’m sure it will be a bit clearer when the tournament starts!

One thing I’ll take with from season is the importance of planning a couple rounds ahead and taking advantage of the looping system. Getting the C right makes a big diff to staying up at the pointy end and got to get off to a good start. Playing the BE game is good, but points are king so go to get off to a flyer otherwise the season fades fast.

Future thanks to all the moderators here do a sic job and make it easier for all the punters.

Lots of love for DC going round it looks like, maybe I have to get on board the train as he is a legend of the T20 circuit with all the tricks and at the price and his new team looks like good value to start.

Let the games begin!!!

Hey guys,

Anyone know if the NZ squad for the T20s vs WI has been annouced? NZ are also slated to play 3 T20s vs Pakistan 18th-22nd December. Don't really follow NZ cricket but I assume there's a fairly high chance Munro & Milne get named in these squads. If they do, with the quarantine rules I guess we need to assume they wont be seen until the 2nd half of the tournament? If anyone has any info/thoughts on this would appreciate the insight :)

I think batting all rounders might benefit a little from the 12th/13th man rule. The main way I can see it being used is when the batting team collapses early (5/65 for example) and they replace their weakest bowler with another batsman - meaning less bowlers and more overs for players like Stoinis, Short.

Batting power play could help anyone really - but you would think middle order batsman like Wells and Nabi may benefit.

@Woosie is your man for all things NZ cricket.

Squads not announced yet.

Munro no longer has a contract with NZC but did play against India earlier in the year.

Milne last played for NZ in 2018 , although they have 5-6 of their fast bowlers currently injured.

No quarantine period from people arriving from NZ (unless that has changed again)

With Swepson in the Test Squad does that make Kuhnemann a option for the Heat ? (trying to find some viable bench options).

I gather Laughin , Mujeeb & Morkel will be locks.

Steketee (Australia A Squad) + Wildermuth

I guess they could use Cooper/Lawrence combination.

Banton , Burns , Gregory , Labuschagne , Steketee & Swepson all unavailable to start their options are limited.

Actually worse than I thought

Rashid Khan v Hobart Hurricanes

5 games , Average 21.8

Shows
5 , 17
17 , 80

5 at Launceston
nothing at Hobart 🤔

Think they played a final against them at AO
I think one reason why he has struggled against the Canes in recent times is the number of top order left handers they have had.
Not sure his exact split but he has a far better record against right handers then lefties, due to his wrong'un not being as dangerous to them.
Plus add in the dominance of Short and Wade the past couple of years, who are lefties too.

The VLOOKUP looks the simplest way. Thanks for the feedback.
As you may have read already the site I was going to use doesn't have dot balls in the overall data, and I can't find another site. Any suggestions? I've got a few weeks 😃
Well it depends how keen your are. I assume you are trying to calculated the points from last year using this years scoring method. If so then I had a quick look and the following site appears to have the ball by ball commentary for each game last year.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/scores/series/8044/season/2019/big-bash-league?view=results

You can get the dot balls from that. I was able to cut and paste the commentary data from the Thunder bowling innings of game 1 and with a bid of Excel magic work out the following.

It would require a bit of work to cut and paste all the data from each game into Excel but it is achievable. @nicohighscore may have a way of scraping the data off the website and that would make it much quicker.

If you would like to pursue this type of approach then let me know and I will help you through it.

Yeah I posted previously if Wade was playing , I definitely wouldn't be picking Rashid for Round 2.

Now to see who opens with Short in their first game and see if I am brave (stupid) enough not to still pick him.

I actually thought it was a 75-80/25-20 split to right v left , I know they showed it a few times last season.
