Is Sidebottom overpriced? I feel he has more upside than Dunkley...
It's honestly hard to tell. Last year his 2nd best season ever and he's generally been a rubbish ratio guy being so outside and dinky in how he plays. Last year the "pure DT" guys all seemed to get much better ratio treatment, my theory being they still got their quantity and with less impact plays in general their low impact stuff picked up the leftover points which normally don't exist. High tacklers also seemed to get the same.

Honestly reckon he's more likely to return to that 95-105 range of the previous 5 seasons. Still a premium but also overpriced.

That said his lower K:H, much lower mark to possession rates and high tackle rates all indicate he played a bit more contested role last year and he's always actually been pretty good in that kind of role. Throw in Treloar leaving and he's the most obvious to take up a more central role, as good as he is on a wing I've always liked him more in clearances, he's got a really strong ability to create time and space in there. This would be the case for him being fairly priced and capable of 115 type scoring.

Personally think that Dunkley has purer upside, he's proven he can sustain 120+ in the right role. Don't expect him to be in that role or score like that personally but he can and will if the role is right. Think both should be premium forwards though and would be surprised if they're not.

@THCLT, I see you have Heeney in your team based on the highlighting in the original post. There's an article on the AFL website today you may not have seen.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/544685/heeney-in-race-for-r1-after-pain-in-the-arse-surgery-literally

Sounds like he is not a certain Rd 1 starter at this stage. You would expect he does play, but he'll be coming off a limited pre-season.

Edit: Missed the disclaimer at the end of your post. Might be better if he is a "may not".
This isn’t enough for me (a Heeney fanatic) to jump off. Doesn’t sound like there is any new injury, just that he is being eased into and tempering expectations.

Also said that "The target will definitely be the practice game and at least getting some minutes in there."

Heeney is still in

I don't really like either as picks but I think I prefer Butters. He's a lot harder at it and so makes more sense to pick up more of Ebert's slack this year, feels like Rozee is going to need a few years to build the engine and body for his ideal fantasy roles.

That said it's just hard to see the minutes with Rockliff, Boak, Wines, Amon, Houston, Gray and SPP all in the mix also. Will be very interesting to see how they use Fantasia as well, it could be to free them a bit more up forward or it could be in the roles they played last year and push them closer to goal, especially for Rozee. He could play down back as well, he's a real wildcard.

They're a pair that it would be really nice to have a few preseason games to gauge!

I love Heeney as a player. Courageous, strong, skillfull, creative. Rule: If they are not in full training by 1 Feb give them a hard pass. Save him a spot on your upgrade list.

Hmmm.... Dunkley now has the biggest risk for me of any premium. Yep any. I see a range of 77 (rnd 1-14 2018) to 120 (2019 + improvement), ranging from full time forward to full time mid. The truth will be somewhere in between. Seriously considering giving a miss after just rejiging the team to include him, again! Argh.

Thoughts on Tom Mcdonald (323k FWD)?
Don't know if he if will be moved back to defence with Ben Brown coming into the team (Need some information from Demons supporters here)
The last 2 years he played in defence were 2015/16. Played 22 in both seasons at an average of 95.9 and 89.7.

I like Butters, in my team atm. I'm hoping he will be a solid keeper this year.
My mate at the club, who was lucky enough to get his job back post COVID, reckons the buzz is all about Zak this pre season. Projecting like he might become a great footballer instead of just a very good one to use his words verbatim.
