As Nk said, he would be a geat POD. Just looked it up and he is only 22, so it COULD be a breakout season for him. I think its the year for him, but I'm not willing to take a risk on it. =/

I'm not brave. Haha
Haha agreed. Good thing though is that we have the round 8 bye so easy to upgrade to him early if he looks he goods. Also, I have a theory that breakout players have a poor first two games so maybe he'll keep his price down :).

Not sure if this is the place for this - but interesting article I thought :)

Who is your AFL club's best and worst goalkicker?
GILBERT GARDINER, HERALD SUN JANUARY 08, 2014 4:51PM

SIREN sounds. Your AFL club is down by five points with a shot on goal to come. Who has the ball?

Goalkicking is as much an art form as it is a mind game. Some get it, while others waver when "that" moment arrives.

Geelong star Tom Hawkins (49 goals) was the pick of 2013 power forwards operating at 67 per cent efficiency.

Exciting talent Jeremy Cameron, Greater Western Sydney's only real target inside 50, was next best kicking 62 goals at 62 per cent accuracy.

Collingwood powerhouse Travis Cloke was at the other end of the scale kicking 68 goals - four shy of Coleman medallist Jarryd Roughead - at a lowly 48 per cent success rate. Travis Cloke had more shots on goal than any other player in the competition.

Others to bob up included Brisbane crumber Josh Green, who led the league at 75 per cent, given most of his shots came from close range.

Sydney ruckman Mike Pike was next best at 73.7 per cent, while spare a thought for Richmond fans watching enigmatic Tiger Dustin Martin spray more than 60 per cent of his shots.

So who was your club's best goalkicker in 2013? [minimum 20 goals, figures in per cent unless specified]

ADELAIDE: The Crows are in good shape after recruiting Eddie Betts (60) and James Podsiadly (53.2). Tom Lynch (53.2) was the pick of the Class of 2013 ahead of Patrick Dangerfield (51.7). Josh Jenkins (42.9) not so much.

BRISBANE: It's hard to go past Josh Green (75) but Brent Staker (65.6) and Ash McGrath (19 goals at 54.3) did it when it counted.

CARLTON: Lachie Henderson's (61.9) move forward was a masterstroke, while Jarrad Waite (56.2) need only stay on the park to make an impact. Chris Yarran was a toss of the coin proposition.

COLLINGWOOD: Flyer Jamie Elliott (60) pipped swingman Bed Reid (59.5). Travis Cloke (48.6) frustrated fans, while Dane Swan (40) did his best work away from goal.

ESSENDON: Tom Bellchambers (66.7) was deadeye from close range, while Michael Hurley converted 50 per cent of his chances.

FREMANTLE: Would you bank on Matthew Pavlich to get the job done? His success rate (49) says no. Chris Mayne (68.5) led the Dockers. Michael Walters (59.7) was next best, while Hayden Ballantyne (45.3) was wayward.

GEELONG: Tom Hawkins (67.1), one of the best in the game, led the Cats from skipper Joel Selwood (62.5). Beware Steve Johnson (41.8), unless he's in a pocket.

GOLD COAST: Sacked Sun Campbell Brown (56.1) had Gary Ablett's (50) measure in this department. Aaron Hall kicked 24 goals at a lowly 39.3 per cent.

GWS GIANTS: Jeremy Cameron (62). No one else came close to the Dartmoor Kid.

HAWTHORN: Jack Gunston (71.9) proved to be the Hawks' most accurate ahead of Roughead (59.5), while David Hale's (40.8) radar was off.

MELBOURNE: Often maligned top draft pick Jack Watts (61.1) showed his class slotting 22 majors, while high-flyer Jeremy Howe converted 57 per cent of chances.

NORTH MELBOURNE: It was a race in three at Arden St with Drew Petrie (61.5) edging out Daniel Wells (58.1) and Jack Ziebell (58.8). Lindsay Thomas (57) faded as the season went on.

PORT ADELAIDE: Chad Wingard - All Australian, club champion and most accurate in front of goal. Not bad for a kid with 43 games under his belt. Jay Schulz (57) was reliable as ever, while Angus Monfries and Justin Westhoff operated at better than 50 per cent.

RICHMOND: Jake King (53.8) made the most of limited chances, Jack Riewoldt (53.7) was next best. It was case of feast or famine for Dustin Martin (38.3) two or more behinds in a game on 10 separate occasions.

ST KILDA: Nick Riewoldt (51) first and daylight second following the retirement of Stephen Milne (28).

SYDNEY: Take your pick from Mike Pyke (73.7), Adam Goodes (64.5) or Kurt Tippett (61.4). Marquee recruit Lance Franklin (52.6) comes in behind Luke Parker (55) and Ben McGlynn (54.5).

WEST COAST: Josh Kennedy (60.6) was in a league of his own ahead of Jack Darling (53.8) and Josh Hill (51.9). Forget Mark LeCras (42.9).

WESTERN BULLDOGS: Daniel Giansiracusa (62.1) might be struggling to play out games, but his accuracy is second-to-none at the kennel. New Dog Stewart Crameri (58.8) knows how to kick a goal too.

Two players especially stand out from this article for me:
- Bellchambers
- Pyke

Mike Pyke is really starting to become an interesting proposition for me.
Will spend most of the time as ruckman with Mumford gone and he's quite the sharpshooter!
Food for thought...

While he is quite a sharpshooter, given how Sydneys Forward structure is looking this year, I can see him getting forward a little less this year. I think his score goes up a bit for Mumford missing, and down a bit for less forward time/goals kicked. I think he will score about what he did last season.

That is quite true as well.
Would you have Pyke or Lobbe in your team?

I currently have Lobbe, and barring injury, will start with him. I can't see Pyke taking that next step, even without Mumford there.
It's the canadian in him I think. You just sense he will be a good all round contributor and not a star like a Cox, Sandilands, Street

Goals are good but unless you the player is getting other points from somewhere they are not worth having.
Out of that list only N Roo finished in the top 10 for total pts and average.

Menzel worth a look at $232k.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-01-08/judd-in-mint-condition

Another to standout was young Blue Troy Menzel, who managed seven games in his first year in 2013 and showed glimpses of his undoubted talent.

Going on his training form on Wednesday, Menzel is sure to add to his games tally this season. Menzel looked nimble and strong and moved with purpose during the team's full-ground transition drills.

In reply to the queries about a 'value' R9 BYE player, try Robbie Gray.

Well under-priced from 3 green vests (first games in R4 & R5, then another in R12) ... take those out and his average jumps up from 82 to 92!!!

AND, he averaged 97 after the BYE ... not bad for a guy priced at 82 ($443k).

Seriously considering him but dunno if I have the balls to do it. Slated to rotate through the midfield more heavily this year too. Tossing up between him and Pav at the moment.

Liking the look of Gray too. Gray/Zorko/Parker keep sneaking their way into my forward line at this stage of the season. Definitely watching all three like a hawk in NAB cup.

This is true but I hasn't mitchell been in the system for a few years. not sure if that has any baring to anything but to crack it into sydney's team is quite hard.
If I recall, in 2012 Mitchell had an injury that kept him out for the year, he was highly rated. In 2013 his first game was much anticipated during the season, and those who got on board in his first two games were richly rewarded (ask Jay who rued missing the boat). Being his fathers son, you bet he can play footy. Your call.
