Parker would be the one I'd go for. Strong rumours that he will be spending more time in the midfield this year and has shown steady improvement sc wise over his first 3 seasons.

How good was Mitchell last year as a rookie? Best thing ever to have him play on the field and not worry if one of your premium was out injured or suspended.
But second year? I have doubts especially in a Sydney team full of midfield scorers.

MOST GOALS Games/Overall/Average
Jarryd Roughead 72 (59.5%) 22/8/11
Travis Cloke 68 (48.6%) 21/12/16
Jeremy Cameron 62 (62%) 21/40/66
Josh Kennedy 60 (60.6%) 21/15/22
Lance Franklin 60 (52.6%) 19/25/19
Jack Riewoldt 58 (53.7%) 21/21/30
Lindsay Thomas 53 (57%) 20/51/75
Nick Riewoldt 50 (51%) 21/7/6
Tom Hawkins 49 (67.1%) 20/60/98
Jay Schulz 49 (57%) 22/16/28

SHARPSHOOTERS
Josh Green 24 goals at 75% 17/94/150
Mike Pyke 28 goals at 73.7% 22/27/15 Adjusted to FWD No's not RUCK.
Jack Gunston 46 goals at 71.9% 20/29/35
Chris Mayne 37 goals at 68.5% 21/14/18
Tom Hawkins 49 goals at 67.1% 20/60/98
Jeremy Cameron 62 goals at 62% 21/40/66

Goals are good but unless you the player is getting other points from somewhere they are not worth having.
Out of that list only N Roo finished in the top 10 for total pts and average.
Great stats. Surprised by Mayne being 14th on overall points actually. Having a look at his numbers he actually wouldn't be a terrible pick and outside chance of being a top 10 fwd. Gumby might even help his scoring potential?
2013 - 21 games at 92
2012 - 21 games at 81
2011 - 22 games at 69

I honestly can not see where the points will be spread with Sydney, Tippett pinch hitting, Franklin, Jetta, Goodes, Reid ,Parker, Mitchell and H'Berry... Not to mention Jack, JPK, McVeigh and some of the defenders that get off the chain at times??? I see them all having a quiet game at times and ripe for the picking after Rd1, just my opinion tho?!

Let's wait and see mate. At this time of year, reckon there is almost a daily story in the papers about this player or that player getting more midfield time. :p I remember reading in one paper that Nick Riewoldt was due for more midfield time in 2014 - LOL - something I find very hard to believe! ;)

Parker is a player that I rate and expect to get better each year. Thought of selecting him but the when I looked at his SC stats I noticed he went 8 games in a row from riund 15 to 22 where he failed reach 100 which has turned me off him.

Yeah true, they're starting to feel like the hawks with their point spread. Part of the reason i'm not too keen on starting Parker is the abundance of mids they have and how much time will Parker actually get, if he does indeed get some time in the mids.

Yeah i've got Sammy Fish, Atley, Parker, Crameri, Hunter, Myers...lol

Yeah that's true. I know a few who got sucked into getting him last year as a quasi premium. Similar to Hanners in a way.

David Hale anyone??? Third tall after Roughie and Gunston, playing a pinch hitting role much like Roughie did last couple years...

Hale was the forward ruck last year. He'd drop back after taking a centre bounce and usually attract a defender that was too short for him thanks to Buddy and Roughead taking the best 2 defenders. It worked well in the prelim against Geelong where Hale would find himself matched up on (I can't quit remember) someone like Motlop or Stokes.

I think this year his role will be similar and will take the forward of centre ball ups...but that depends on whether Clarkson is going to get McEvoy to drift back or forward.

You'd think Roughie would be a permanent fixture in the forward line unless circumstances dictate otherwise, all this ensuring Hale shares the ruck duties with BigBoy McEvoy and maybe kicking a few more goals? The reason I'm contemplating him is I see his numbers potentially more consistent than Charlie Dixons who also has the R/F DPP but is almost 40k extra. Also, if Gunston struggles, I reckon it may be Hale who picks up the slack scoring wise... Any thoughts???

North Melb.
I started a similar post in the midfield and ruck sections and figured i would also start one for the forwards.

What are your predictions for the top 6 forwards for Supercoach in 2014?

1. Going by Supercoach average only.
2. Be expected to play 20+ games.
3. Players with DPP status can be included.

Dangerfield - Will be miles ahead of any other forward in 2014 with 110+ average.
Cloke - Contested marking freak and should only improve with the new marking contest rule (my tip for the Coleman medal).
Petrie - Good solid all round player who should average around 100.
N. Riewoldt - Superstar with a freak engine, runs his opponents ragged while getting a decent amount of ball.
Wingard/Monfries/Westhoff - Don't know which one will score the highest so i went all three :p

Martin, Franklin and Pavlich would be in my list but i think they will probably play around 18 or 19 games.

With some many great forward options gone from last year, it really opens this year but I’d say -

1. Danger
2. Dusty
3. Petrie
4. Wingard
5. Roughead
6. Buddy

Just wondering why you think Martin won't play 20+ games this year? Injury or Suspension?
