‘hoping”

FWD line in disarray................

Enter Dusty.?
Yep, even before today he was right on the cusp of earning himself a guernsey in my side purely off the fact I know he'll front up each week, and across the season produce a season of scoring that will see him in the top six forwards.

Thoughts on Marshell out for Z. Butters? Seems like the only alright pick at the moment
I had him in for a little bit, the main problem for me is that based on last season his floor is very low and hasn't yet proven he's got the ceiling to make up for that. Needs more mid time to make him a less risky pick and I don't think Port can give him that yet.

Forwards are always putrid. This season they were kind enough to let us see before the games start.
Last year I actually had the opposite, I couldn't pick all the guys I wanted at the start and instead picked all the wrong ones but I was tossing up Simpkin, Petracca, Brayshaw, Lynch, B. Smith, Wingard, Ceglar, D. Smith and then Martin as the safe premium.

In the end I took Martin, Wingard, Lynch, Brayshaw and D. Smith and then dumped Brayshaw into Ceglar to finalise the worst of all options play  My RDT where I took B. Smith, Simpkin, Brayshaw, Wingard and Petracca was a lot more solid (and I actually held Brayshaw...)

Tom Phillips seems underpriced for what he can achieve and his situation where he'll seemingly own a wing all season long.
Underpriced, for sure. A good pick, a lot more questionable. Would love some article that the Hawks had somehow fixed his kicking. He's one of the absolute biggest butchers in the league.

Managed 90 and 83 in the two seasons on a wing at the Pies and the Pies wing role is a lot more lucrative than the Hawks has been. Guys like Isaac Smith, Brad Hill and all have maxed out at 90 or lower and I don't think you'd find anyone who'd suggest Phillips is of that standard. To be fair Henderson did have a 95 season but he's a strong mark and a much better ball user.

Basically his only real success is as a keeper pick, which is most likely the 95+ mark. So basically needs a career best season in a team where his role has never meant that for better players.

I actually really like him for DT but just can't see it in SC, would probably need to go 105+ in DT to get to 95 given his disposal skills and it's that point where your own team kind of doesn't want you getting it that much if you butcher it that badly, reckon they use him to open up space and run his ass off but not as a primary ball mover.

Just hard when the requirement is so high and the player is as bad a kick as he is in a thoroughly uncontested role.

Anyone looking at Zorko?
Yeh you never know what you will get with Zorko. Went 52,107,DNP,47,DNP to start last year and ended 61,159,68,106. Went at 86.7 in 2019 in the first 6 and finished the season post bye 116.8 average from the last 10. Go back to 2018 and he had 3 scores under 46 in the first 6 but then went on to average 107.1 from rd7 onwards.

Looks like an upgrade target rather than a starter!

From Hawks BF page today:

"Tom Phillips was outstanding playing on the wing for the blue team. He racked up the possessions and always used the ball superbly. He kicks low and direct, can break and lay a tackle and is tough. Ran hard for all four quarters."

Impey with raving reviews from inside the club as well from what I’m told.

Hmmm yeah, i mean hes definitely there as one of my almost definite to take Marshells spot its just that mid part about him that has me worried
I am with you on this one regarding Dunkley as my Marshall replacement. I just don't think the Dogs coaching staff are going to bow down to a guy who tried to leave and offer him more of what he wants. So far the only article iv read basically said ''Dunkley will play where he's told and like it''. The compromise seems to be that he won't have to ruck.

Still an option of course but the pick doesn't inspire me at the moment.

Sidebottom? Obviously overpriced but with Treloar gone and Adams injured is he a reasonable pick?
A lot of the other elite forwards are injured or coming off rehab.

On a wing? I would have thought he would be a starting mid with Scully retiring.
I'm disappointed with his position.

Iv been on Sidey all along. Overpriced but still only 29 and even if he gets a few tags he should be a top fwd. At least he is healthy too..

If that Sier guy actually looks like getting the Treloar role though that would make Sidey less desirable as a starter imo. Pies have a reasonably tough start also.

'Pain-free' Danger eyes midfield return after cautious summer
The Geelong superstar and his coach are confident he'll have a bigger impact in the midfield in 2021

PATRICK Dangerfield has taken a major stride in his recovery from injury as Geelong prepares to re-deploy the superstar as a near-permanent midfielder in 2021.

Dangerfield admitted he was a "month behind" his ideal timeline ahead of round one but remains confident he'll have done enough work to face Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on March 21.

120+ average underdone forward anyone?
