Jeez.... how many bloody calf injuries are going around? Pretty grim reading just this current page 😳
Yep, you can add me to the list of calf injuries too😆...at this rate even the teams runners will be contracting them😂

And if your not a pro you can forget treatment during a lockdown....(massage, physio, Exercise pool; all shut). Sucks.

Goes to show you how much toll the compressed fixture and lack to recovery time last year had on the players. Even with the shortened games, their bodies look a beating it seems.
Absolutely. You'd think it would have to be a contributing factor for sure. Did the AFL heirachy consider the ramifications of season 2020 and its impact/effect on the players heading into and during the 2021 season I wonder......

Any independant sports science 'experts' comissioned to investigate and report its findings and recommendations.....would be interesting to know

Clearly a lot of players bodies have & are operating at maximum thresholds; red-lining it and then blowing a gasket......feel for em'

Flynn 123k R2 / Treacy R3 (if both named)?
Never rule out a decent alternative strat haha
A rookie ruck, as we’ve seen is arguably the biggest steal in the game. If Flynn can get anywhere near ROB/Pittonet type scoring for the first 8 weeks it would be a massive win imo.
I think Mumford would be ahead of Flynn to play ruck. Anybody know how Flynn is going in the preseason?

Makes you wonder about the Brisbane approach with Neale. Some people thinking he might not be right but the Lions said they were just managing his preseason. They might be smarter than some people think.

Might just be me but this preseason hasn't seemed that out of the ordinary, perhaps hitting a few more fantasy relevant guys than usual but looking at last year...

Gawn, Doedee, Curnow, Betts, Kemp, Marchbank, SPS, McKay, Adams, Langdon, Treloar, Pendles, Daniher, Draper, Heppell, Hooker, Zaharakis, Acres, Aish, Hill, all of Freo's KPD, Wilson, Duncan, Selwood, Cockatoo, Hanley, Harbrow, Powell, Rankine, Witts, Thompson, Taranto, Ward, Williams, Gunston, Mitchell, Impey, Hardwick, Bennell, KK, Salem, LDU, Brown, Turner, Jacobs, Dixon, Lycett, Watts, Wines, Houli, Nankervis, Geary, Franklin, Reid, Melican, Allen, Darling and Liberatore were all guys with listed injuries/preseason issues heading into round one that would otherwise have been in the mix for best 22 (some played, some didn't).

One scary thing doing that list was how many of the names are guys I've considered this year

What probably hasn't helped is the shorter preseason and restrictions on elective surgeries have probably meant there is a lot more players with delayed starts from the normal o***eason surgeries.

Really annoying all these injuries, not necessarily because they were in my team but because it makes teams more similar.

Makes it harder to separate yourselves from the group.
Actually not so sure about that. Everyone had Marshall and Preuss! And most had Neale. Think it might create some variation.

Nah, the injuries to Marshall and Preuss will certainly create less variation. I wouldn’t say everyone had Marshall and Preuss. Most had Marshall and quite a few had Preuss.

So beforehand there were mostly the Preuss/Grundy or Preuss/Gawn or Gawn/Grundy teams. There were also the Marshall/Dunkley or Marshall/Dusty or Dunkley/Dusty teams.

Now almost every serious team will have Gawn and Grundy and a big percentage will now have both Dunkley and Dusty.

Should still get a bit of variance in defence and midfield though.
