Proof for a criminal conviction is a lot higher than the proof required for an AFL conviction.
Likely to get pled down to a lesser charge, if anything was to happen at all!

Quantity thresholds likely to come into play given SIA do not set an amount. Easier to scapegoat in a sporting setting especially if the player is not important and all involved can pretend there is no longer an issue.

The news report I saw said trafficking. I would have thought if the AFL have evidence of trafficking that would have to be passed on to the police.

So an umpire gets 1 week for dressing up as Osama Bin Laden at an end of year function, yet players cop 4 games for performing a 9/11 skit at their function? Doesn't seem like that much difference to me, would have hoped for more consistency from the AFL. Pretty serious misjudgement from all of them to be honest.

Not really.

I can't imagine it going down well for me from my work if I dressed up as Osama in any fashion at a gathering with my co-workers, even a non official work function, if it got into the public demain like this did. That's the way of the world now (besides it being in very poor taste). Guessing I'd probably cop more than a week off work...

Yeah choosing the costume of a mass murdered isn't exactly the best use of his braincells, not really much difference there between Bin Laden, Hitler, Stalin or Idi Amin but I'm sure he wouldn't have chose any of those 3.

The GWS players who did the 9/11 skit got 2 week suspensions. Fahey was the only one who got 4 weeks.
