So so frustrated today
The Oliver injury is brought to light
Preuss out for months
R Marshall out for months
Didn’t have preuss or Marshall at all this off season and can see my side now being similar to everyone else
Not a happy man
To be fair though, I believe Oliver's 'injury' is more of a clean-up following his double shoulder reco in 2018, as he had last off-season.

Captain Dyson Heppell starred in his return from injury, while recruits Nick Hind, Jye Caldwell and Nik Cox were among the standouts in Essendon's match simulation session at the NEC Hangar on Thursday.

In a full-scale hitout in hot and windy conditions, the Bombers were split into two teams with 10 VFL top-up players including new signing Kyle Dunkley also featuring.

Heppell showed no ill-effects from the foot injury that ruined his 2020 season, racking up possessions, kicking a goal and courageously going back with the flight of the ball in full game time.

The 28-year-old started in defence as part of a new-look half-back line also featuring Hind, Jayden Laverde, Ned Cahill and Tom Hird, while forwards-turned-defenders Jayden Laverde and James Stewart looked comfortable as stoppers.

Caldwell also impressed with his aggression, ball-winning ability and composure alongside Kyle Langford, Darcy Parish, Dylan Shiel and Zach Merrett in the engine room.

The former Giant made his presence felt early, bursting out of a centre stoppage and delivering inside 50 to Harrison Jones, who took a diving mark and converted the set-shot.

Caldwell's best moment came later, however, when he dispossessed Stewart, earned a free and converted from 45m against a strong breeze.

Reading the tweets on the link :-

Some nice ball movement so far. Langford and Caldwell easily the two best Mids so far

Great to hear that about Caldwell, I have been keen on him this year as fwd option option. Really rate him, now that he gets the midfield time he was after that he didn't get at the Giants I believe he will thrive.
Any idea if it was a probables vs or even teams? Makes a big difference on reading anything into midfield stuff.

That said, good to see Langford and Caldwell, both of whom are on my watch list, doing well. I actually think Langford could be a really strong pick this year.

Hind the other of interest, always liked what he did at Saints and think he'd have to be used in a creative role down back which can score very well, would like him to be about 60k cheaper but he's at an in play price at least.

West Coast midfielder Tim Kelly will miss tomorrow night’s intra-club game with a thumb injury, though the Eagles are confident he will be available for the start of the season.

Kelly, fellow onballer Elliot Yeo (osteitis pubis) and spearhead Josh Kennedy (calf) headline a growing list of players who are sidelined a month out from West Coast’s round one date with Gold Coast.

Ruckman Bailey Williams, who is firmly in the frame to back-up Nic Naitanui in the season opener, has also been slowed by a quad injury. It will hand premiership big man Nathan Vardy a chance to stake his claim to play his first senior game since round 12, 2019
