Have to agree to disagree there 😂
Jake Lloyd stands for everything that is wrong in our country.
He's the embodiment of the moral turpitude of a society in decay, a society which applauds cheap stats over substance, chip-scabbing over hardball gets, pack-skirting over winning your own footy.
Thank you for listening to my TED Talk.
TED talks have way more padding!

That‘s a confusing response. It starts out like you want to make a case for a third type but then present a very compelling case as to why no rational person would belong to it.;)

Seriously though, to my eye Sir Jake is a genuinely effective player who makes good decisions and then executes them effectively at high percentage of the time. He also never gets injured. The vitriol directed toward him by the very group who should applaud this staggers me. He is my first picked every year and can’t see that changing for some time.

However even if you are right. I don’t care. It is all about the number of points; not the how, not the why, not the whether they are deserved.

It's a completely irrational antipathy, not even going to try to sugar-coat it.
In all seriousness:
He has low variance, a staggeringly high P90 and floor, doesn't seem to miss a game.
Exactly what you want in an SC commodity.
It's not how, it's how many,.viewed rationally.
But I reserve the right to loathe him.

If it does transpire that Highmore, Gould etc. are not selected in rd 1:

Neville Jetta: any viability?

Close to rookie priced.
Injuries last year or out of favour?
Hadn't noticed him at all until now.

Would have to been a massive longshot to debut Round 1.

I think it was Jonas during the week in the News saying they have 10-12 defenders with AFL experience going for 6-7 spots so he was even worried about his spot 😀

Extremely tough backline to break into.
lol that includes Bergman who was told to train in defence as he'd more than likely get a game in that position. Seems they have an abundance of surplus players behind and forward, maybe they need some young blood in the mids.

Bergman , Jones & Mead seem the 3 most mentioned on the News when they actually remember their is a second side here 😀

Kenny wants a flag so can't see too many changes to Boak , Gray , Rockliff & Wines , that is who he normally turns too.

Let the old guys do all the grunt work in the centre square then give it to the runners.

Butters , Duursma & Rozee are all sting young , admittedly a year older than this time last year when they were younger 😉

Is Witherdeen playing this year ?
As in not on a long-term injury and available for selection? Yes, believe so, had some minor interruptions in training due to quarantining but otherwise all systems go,
How he will fit in with Hurn, Sheppard, Duggan - not sure, WC supporters much better informed, I’d only be guessing.

Witherden I expect plays most/all games, young quality guy traded in and Hurn in his last year and will groomed for his replacement. Looks to be the 7th player for back 6, although, with Duggan playing more midfield until Yeo returns, Withereden should get more TOG early on.

Expect Hurn's TOG to be managed hard this year, likely 10% lower than prior years plus the odd game rested. When midfield is fully back, expect Witherden TOG may be 75-80% rather than 85-90%.

Only knock on Witherden is supposedly poor defensive skills. Should fit in at the Eagles! Suits the Eagles game which is an intercepting and precision chip passing game out of defense. It is why Kelly has struggled vs Geelong days as he is more attacking, run and stun player whereas Shuey can blend that with drop into the gap to receive a small pass.

That's my read based on comments made by players pre season, @Lost In The Sky may be able to add more as he has a better eye for watching the game.

My preference at that price point would be Duggan. Playing rebounding defender, slightly more up the ground and this year should get midfield CBA's. Note Duggan only added to midfield group 3 weeks ago, not in the Laird permanent role.

I've been taking a good hard look at Lukosious this week.

What are people's thoughts on him? He has a super-efficient game which is definitely SC friendly, so would a another year of seasoning and potentially some further improvement from the Suns benefit him and perhaps get him up around the 95-100 point per week mark?

I can see the appeal. I had him pencilled in for this year during last however his late season crash has warned me off a bit given that was a shortened season.

However in the end for me, I can‘t see him displacing the other higher quality options (albeit more expensive) I currently have down back.
