Jets get their man: Jordan's Jets FC secures Saad
THE Jordan's Jets Football Club is pleased to confirm Adam Saad has joined the Jets.

The Club has secured the 26-year-old in exchange for their first round pick No.10 in the upcoming 2021 SCSUL Draft after finalising a trade with the Jabukanji Stingers during the 2021 SCSUL Trade Period.

One of the best small defenders in the game, Saad will bring an immediate injection of breathtaking speed, elite ball-use and proven defensive brilliance – the perfect fit for the Jet’s attacking, fast ball-movement under Senior Coach Jordan Donaldson.

Jordans Jets.JPG
Another outstanding season of consistency saw Saad finish 2020 inside the top 10 in the competition for metres gained, while going above 80 per cent for disposal efficiency.

He also conceded less than a goal against per game, performing lock-down roles on some of the SCSUL’s most dangerous small forwards in Tom Papley, Liam Ryan and Dan Butler, who were kept to just one goal apiece against him.

Saad also arrives at The Hangar on the back of three consecutive top four finishes in the Bombers’ best and fairest.

After missing just one game in his last four seasons, Saad already has 109 games under his belt, bringing valuable experience to the Jets’ back half as they seek back to back titles.

The Jets Head of List Management @Jordan's Jets said the Jets faithful can expect the speedster to bring excitement in the Green and White in 2021.

MEGA FOUR PLAYER DEAL CONFIRMED

A mega four player deal was concluded late on Saturday with key position forwards getting a fresh start at new homes.

Yorkshire Republican Army made their first moves in overhauling their list moving on want away forward Ben Brown and reliable defender Darcy Byrne-Jones to the Roppingian Rangers in exchange for forwards Charlie Curnow and Jesse Hogan. Curnow and Hogan both have three years remaining on their contracts, whilst Darcy Byrne-Jones has five years on his. Ben Brown will become a free agent after this season. In a complicated deal clubs will pay a portion of salary across three years.

This was the second trade of the day, in what is ramping up to be a busy preseason trading period.

SCS ULTIMATE PRESS RELEASE

Let's be clear, the salary and contract caps can not be exceeded.

I'd love to be exceeding the salary and contract caps, but our advice has been clear, DO NOT EXCEED THESE CAPS.

I make no apologies. That's been the plan, that's been the expectation and that's been the explanation.

I just want to remind drafters who are thinking that this is not serious, these are the very real consequences:
  • Quadruple the excess salary will be deducted from the team's salary cap for the following year (2021).
  • Contract years must be altered to under the cap. Where that is not possible, quadruple the excess years will be deducted from the team's contract cap for the following year (2021).
  • Teams must always remain at or below the salary and contract caps. Therefore, teams will need to trade their way to eligibility before round 1 commences.

HIGHLIGHT RESPONSES FROM PRESS CORE QUESTIONS

"Nobody wants to turn a $100,000 and 1 year excess into a $400,000 and 4 year hit next season and then have to do the "I'll take NicNat off your hands in exchange for Nathan Vardy to help you out of your draft dilemma. :) " trade."

"Doing the popular thing is not what this job requires, it requires us to make really difficult decisions that are not always popular,” KLo30 said.

KLo30 told the Herald Sun: “We all want to be together, but the only way to get through this draft is to work together.

“And know that if we all do the right thing we can keep our draft safe and get back to normal sooner.”

KLo30 also asked Drafters to stay vigilant during Stage 5+ drafting takes place.

“I know it’s easy to think that with such low case numbers of errors, maybe the worst has passed, maybe this is over. I just want to remind every Drafter this is very, very fragile,” he said, “We saw a spike in numbers over a couple of days. We have had outbreaks in lots of different sections right across the draft.
Relevant bump for our planning.

It's 18 days until Round 1 begins, so we need to start organising our draft times, Auctions (FA & RFA) and Preseason Draft.

Need everything completed by Sunday March 14th to enable the documents to be ready before the start of round 1 on Thursday 19th March.

Saturday's are out for Tim due to cricket, as well as Tuesday and Thursday due to training until at least 9pm. Sunday 14th would have to be finished before 1pm as Tim, Jordan and myself have our Keeper League draft that day.

Week beginning March 1: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
Week beginning March 8: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday

Let us know your availability.

Preseason Draft and Signing Period

This is how I see the preseason draft and signing period playing out, however this isn't set in stone and will need to fit with individual availability.

The order of drafting and signing will be as follows:

1. Free Agents
  • There are 54 players who fit the criteria for the free agent auction draft.
  • This will run in the same manner as the top 60 in the inaugural draft.
  • Therefore, we will need up to 3 hours to complete.
2. Restricted Free Agents
  • There are 3 players who are eligible for the restricted free agent auction draft.
  • This will run in the same manner as the 2017 Rookie players in the inaugural draft.
  • This won't take very long. :)
3. 2nd Contract
  • Teams will need to determine whether eligible players will be retained.
  • Retained players will need to be signed before the Rookie and Unlisted Player Draft.
  • The signing process is the same as the 2017 Rookie players in the inaugural draft (i.e. predetermined contract table)
  • This process doesn't require all to be available.
  • There will be a set deadline
4. Trade and Delisting Deadline
  • Deadline to enable Rookie and Unlisted Player Draft doc to be completed.
5. Rookie and Unlisted Player Draft.
  • This will run in the same manner as rounds 19 onwards in the inaugural draft.
  • Teams must ensure that they stay within the contract year and salary caps at all times.
  • Up to 2 hours will be required.
Ideally, 3 - 5 are completed after the preseason games, so as to give us all as much information as can be garnered.
Weekdays would be evenings. Sunday during the day?

With the long weekend here in Vic next weekend, Friday and Sunday are not going to work for me, should be fine by the Monday evening though. All other days should be fine, but my preference would be evening if on the following Sunday.

Two sessions needed, at least, with a gap in between.

Hard to believe Victoria will be allowed to have a long weekend.

Tomorrow would be difficult for me given the short notice (need to go into the office which might make me unavailable until say 9pm). I can do all the others on the table. Sunday 14th I'm available after 1pm I think. Seems like we have to start on Monday 8th evening to leave enough leeway (which sounds good to me actually)

I will need a decent amount of prep time as well.

Monday 8th should be okay for the first session, I will need to check family commitments for the weekend after that.

Do we have a tab in the sheet showing players available in the open Preseason draft? I can see tabs for FA Auction, RFA, 2nd Contract but not everyone else. Undrafted players tab seems to have every player listed even those currently with contracts? Apologies if I'm looking in the wrong spot

Apologies for the late response to availability, but thankfully Ken pretty much outlined where I’m at. Saturday’s are out for me and Tuesday/Thursday nights until at least 9ish. Other than that I’m good to go. Looking forward to it.

MEGA FOUR PLAYER DEAL CONFIRMED

A mega four player deal was concluded late on Saturday with key position forwards getting a fresh start at new homes.

In a complicated deal clubs will pay a portion of salary across three years.

This was the second trade of the day, in what is ramping up to be a busy preseason trading period.
Yorkshire Republican Army are proud to unveil two of the competitions most talented key forwards to its stocks. Both will join the medical room from day 1, which will now be led by Dr Gregory House. Dr House's unorthodox diagnostic approaches, radical therapeutic motives, and stalwart rationality will get these two back on track.

In other news The YRA can confirm the immediate release of Dr. Nick Riviera after his medical on Jesse Hogan.

The YRA agreed in principle to the deal with Roppongian Rangers on Saturday morning, with the medical team lead by Dr Riviera clearing the path for a Hogan round 1 debut.

The media leaked the story Hogan was set to miss at least a month with a new injury at the same time, paving the way for an awkward approval of the trade at HQ.

As a franchise of integrity, we will always stay true to our word. We have backed in the new medical team and upheld the agreement, signing off with HQ on the deal with the knowledge of Jesse's latest setback.
