I have a wedding that Sunday unfortunately.

I have locked in the Monday 8pm.. public holiday - don't drink too much on the day off! Could end up bidding $1m on any Carlton player!

No. Deeman let me know he has tennis. So I got on the forehand early and sliced that option from the equation. You can't fault his timing, as he did so early set.

I am good whatever works for others. It was just this coming weekend (Fri & Sun) that wasn’t going to work for me.

I have a question about a hypothetical situation that I'm not sure has been covered.

Squad sizes are 44. Obviously with expiring contracts etc teams will have a number of list vacancies to fill. Before any extensions I have a list of 33, so 11 spots to fill.

I have 7 Preseason draft picks. For the sake of example, if I were to be unsuccessful in bids during the FA and RFA Auctions, I could face a situation where I have more open list spots than Preseason Draft picks available. I imagine several teams may face a similar situation.

Was wondering if this has been given any thought and what the outcome/ramifications of this situation would be?

I am the other way. I have 8 draft picks but only likely to use maybe 6. So happy to deal with the highest bidder to offload a pick or two to move up the draft or for next years picks.

The intention of the rule was having players available each year for selection through either auction or draft.

Draft selections for the minimum should really read Auction & Draft Selections. Be involved in the draft or not, it's up to you. I'm happy with the max 12 in drafting, obviously teams have more than 12 available list positions on year to year, which will be filled from auction and draft.

Sorry @KLo30 , just one more query based on the Pendlebury example (i.e. pick Pendles for $1m @ 5 years and structure it 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400). If Pendles is delisted voluntarily by the coach before Pendle's 4th year but then later Pendles actually retires in the 5th year, would the coach need to pay the full 1200k for the 4th year but then only 400k for the 5th year? (or still need to pay the full 1200k and 1400k in both years?)

I'm of the mind that you should pay for your decision. So, if you delist you pay full price. If the AFL industry make the decision for you, you pay a pro-rata price (if at all).

To confirm/ clarify, I believe part of the rules is no trading in the week leading up to the auction & draft.

So are we now on a trade holt until the draft whereby we can trade picks only - and then after the draft we can trade players again?

Selfish question obviously, as trying to make this team my own, and best way to do that is move on current players and pick my own!
