My understanding is the same, the draft is everyone not on a Ultimate team list after the FA/RFA auctions, so new draftees and everyone not on a list currently (plus anyone not bid on in the FA auctions plus anyone delisted between now and the draft).

PS Aaron Hall is in the FA auction so you will have a chance to get him tommorow night.

Hi coaches, apologies for the delay in getting this post up, it's been a busy week for us both (bar being able to watch practice matches whilst at work ;)). Firstly, thank you everyone for your timely responses to the survey.

As it stands, the RUC requirements will remain the same for season 2021 as they were for our inaugural season (the 2020 season).
That is, teams are required to field 2 RUCs within their selected sides.

The majority voted in favour of the proposed rule change, with integration to take place after one or two seasons being the preference.

Based on the leagues consensus at the conclusion of the 2021 season we will again assess the RUC landscape going forward.
Furthermore, we will continue to explore all possible options if necessary, and come to an agreed solution with another years data and UL experience under our belts.

Thanks.
I would just like to clarify this as some of my planning decisions are hinging on it.

Does the decision mean that the ruck rule will definitely be changing and we will be deciding at the end of this year whether that change will come into effect in 2022 or 2023? Or does it just mean we will go through the whole process again at the end of this year after we see what return to longer quarters does for rucks?

I suspect a few coaches could answer this, but just want to make sure:

- Pre-season draft picks can only be used to select this year’s newly drafted AFL players, eg Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and his cohort. These will all be 2 year contracts, at the SCSUL price listed in the 2021 Draftable players tab (212k for JUH).

- There will be a separate, subsequent draft for unowned players. I assume the order for this is TBD, but will follow a snake format. The prices for these players are set at the SCSUL price on the same tab, but contract years can be determined by the drafting player.

The implication of this is that I can use my pre-season #1 pick to select Ugle-Hagan, but not an unowned player like Aaron Hall.

If I really want Hall, I’ll just have to hope no one else takes him before my first pick in the unowned player draft 🙂 He would then cost me 401k for as many years as I determine.

Is that correct?
Hmm I thought the preseason draft would include the new and old players.
Yeah that’s my understanding also. Preseason draft is effectively everyone not currently on a list

Philzsay's answer best describes the preseason draft segment.

The voting suggested that the vast majority believe a change is needed, but it should not be implemented this season.

We are going to explore the best option for our competition. This will take the form of either a forward being able to substitute for a ruck, designating RUC/FWD status ourselves to those that play that role but not designated in Supercoach or a combination of both.

I'd like to be more definitive, but I can't at this stage.

I will make one comment on this only, don’t want to risk getting people o***ide. I believe we need clarity on the ruck intention now, we are all building lists and making decisions that go beyond this year.
Little bit concerned with the subjective nature of nominating ruck / forward suggested above. Think it should be clear cut, so you can’t have natural bias’ kick in during allocation.

Rangers get their men.

The Roppongian Rangers are pleased to announce the signings of Patrick Ryder and Luke McDonald to the club. Ryder comes to the club on a high value one year deal, but provides much needed ruck support for the Rangers with young Marshall suffering an injury blow in the preseason. Shodoro commented “We had a very clear strategy to target Ryder during the free agency period and were delighted to get our man. We think he’ll form a strong duo with Marshall this season and allow us to play Marshall in the forward line when he returns from injury”. Speaking about McDonald, Shodoro said “Luke will provide some much needed support for our young and injury prone defensive line. With Fantasia and Williams earmarked for more permanent roles in the forward line and midfield in future seasons, we are hoping Luke can be that more reliable head down back.”

The Rangers also became the first SCSUL club to exercise restricted free agency matching rights, in a dramatic buzzer beat for young Bayley Fritsch. Tensions were flared in the Rangers recruiting room when the Darkness called his name, but in the end the club rewarded Fritsch for his preseason form with a 2 year deal.

Morning gents, as hinted last night, the great @Impromptu has created a SCSUL Hub for us on SCS. The plan is to utilise this section of the forum to host each of our team threads, fixture/results/ladders, weekly in game discussions, a thread for team press releases, etc. Pretty much we’ll be using SCS rather than TapTalk which will be good.

After work today I’ll start to transfer across some of last years posts from TapTalk to keep as a record of the leagues historic inaugural season.

That is great news. I kind of gave up on that other forum as I was finding it too hard to navigate for this old fool ... I tried but old dog, new tricks, etc. beat me in the end!

Spent the last few hours slowly figuring out my draft preferences.

I have decided on who my first choice pick (at pick 2) is, however if @Darkie selects him with the first pick of the draft then I am currently torn between two players who to pick!

Fun and games!

I was thinking that if you value the certainty of your first preference more than I do, a trade to upgrade pick 2 to pick 1 could make sense ... although I’m not sure that’s a question we’d be in a position to answer by the deadline!

I think I was caught out by this last time but @KLo30 and @Goodie's Guns, just double checking that if coaches decide not to offer any of the 2CP players a contract and they go to the general draft, the 2CP prices would still apply if they were picked up in the general draft?
Yes, teams will have to sign them as a 2CP if they pick them up in the draft.
