Does that mean we get the same flexibility in contracts, as they are 2CP? I suspect yes per point 1 below.
Are all other draftees 2 years at the set price?
Is there any window to alter contracts like you would on an AFL list?
Is the latest rule document pinned to post 1 in this thread? I am sure I was told I could not do point 6 when I traded, so suspect not.
It seems to be about the only way I can manage cap space after Friday?
Contract Structuring
On going - The structure of contract must be determined at the time of acquiring the player/extending into a new contract. The structure can not be altered after this time.
1) Contract structuring can be done only on players where their has been a bidding process (FA and RFA) and a rookies 2nd contract where a loading has been applied.
2) The salaries of 2nd contracts can be taken as an average across the contract years or frontend/backend loaded. Under the loading structure the salaries are predetermined via formula, which will be published prior to the 2nd contract period.
3) FA and RFA contracts can be taken as an average across the contract years or frontend/backend loaded. The structure is determined by the team. Salaries cannot fall below nor exceed 50% of the average yearly salary in any one season.
4) If a player retires early, or is delisted, from the AFL, teams must pay the salary which is over the average, at the time of signing/drafting, for the reminder of the players contract.
5) Teams trading a player may pay a portion of the remaining salary. This must be determined at the time of trading.
6) Teams receiving a player in a trade may restructure the traded players salary. This must be determined at the time of trading.
