Got 4 right now (Lloyd, Laird, Daniels and Mills), would simply ditch Dunkley up forward and go with 5 rookies there. Ziebell, Daniher and Impey are such strong JS/Scoring potential rookies that I'm just not worried about finding 4 traditional rookies to go with them in what is a strong looking crop.

To be fair, my current setup is starting Flynn over Grundy but that would require one of Meek/Treacy being there at R3 I think or McEvoy convincing me he's worth picking as a defender.
they my 4 atm too.

Thanks. Loving the discussion between pizzasafety and yourself.

Any view on Lachie Young at North. Not in my team although question is if he is an option.

Whether optimistic or not, think we are backing these premium rookies in, no other choice I expect. Alternative will be $200-350k players who could clog our teams. Happy to back skilled player and role, preseason data ok guide although not brilliant forecaster.

If anything, risk is Daniher, excl injury risk, Brisbane hard start and not sure he has played this season on a good backman. Dropped out to upgrade Duggan to Mills. If we have 5 premiums with no Whitfield, bit risky with a Williams or Duggan if there is another bolter.

Mills better chance of matching a bolter, although yet to assess scoring rate in midfield role.

I really like L. Young as a player, he's not on his brother's level but he's good and probably better value though JS not as good.

I always like when teams isolate a need and then go out and get someone to fill it, was squeezed out at the Dogs but they're loaded on the HBF. I don't see any reason young can't push 75 range in the right role. The real question is whether they use him more defensively or more offensively. Think there will be plenty of supply and he's a good ball user so offensively he should have a chance. Will be behind Ziebell and McDonald I'd imagine (though he's a considerably better ball user than either) but after that North don't have much in the way of rebounding players.

Just read this about Gulden :-

The diminutive midfielder is a ball magnet who rarely fumbles, kicks goals and puts his teammates in better positions.

Gulden put together a standout junior career, impressing at every level he played at, posting KFC SuperCoach scores of 245, 177 and 149 at the under-16 national championships and 168, 131 and 105 in his three bottom-age NAB League games in 2019.

Then he averaged 88 points in three NEAFL matches as a 17-year-old.

I really need that :FAP smiley :)

The diminutive midfielder sentence was absolutely on-point in the wet on the weekend. Reckon he probably had a 60/110 type game on the weekend depending on how many of the tackles counted it could go higher/lower but he was enormous in a close game.

More info on him with his Draft Profile :-

Charlie Lazzaro
Geelong Falcons, NAB League / St Marys
Height: 179cm
Weight: 73kg
25/03/02
Small midfielder who is outstanding around stoppages and winning contested ball, using his vision and clean hands to create for his teammates. Courageous and with a great work ethic he was a consistent ball winner for the Falcons in his bottom aged year averaging 20 disposals in eight matches. His agility tested in the rare category with his 7.98 seconds for the AFL Agility run in the Victorian preseason testing. Started the trials this year in great touch averaging 27.5 disposals,6 clearances and 8 tackles in 2 trials for the Geelong Falcons.

My interpretation of what Brown has said today :-

Powell is a big chance a debuting round 1, if he performs well again in North's next practice game I think we can lock him in.

Lazzaro is very much in the mix for round 1, if he has another solid game then he could well squeeze into the 22 round 1.

Phillips is no chance of playing round 1, might debut later on in the season.
I wonder how much of the difference between Powell and Phillips at this stage is due to Powell playing last year and Phillips not being able to. Non-Victorian players got an extra season of development and I expect that to have a huge impact on R1 selections

What is this curse you speak of? Please elaborate
It’s a curse I did not know about until Daniher moved and has looked this way in preseason. The truth of it has only become apparent to me now but here’s what I propose:

The dark lord Leigh Matthews ensured nearly 20 years of pain at the conclusion of which he would inflict a chronic injury on our best player , which would make him grow disgruntled and unhappy, knowing he would then be driven to his team the Brisbane Lions, just as they re-emerged as a contender. Upon leaving Essendon, Leigh Matthews with his powers of wizardry would remedy the injury so Joe could be free and play at his best again for his beloved Lions.

But the reason for our decline and struggle has now been made clear to me - witchcraft.

It’s comforting to know that we haven’t been losing and mucking up, but the defeats, the ASADA scandal, the finals win drought, the poor use of draft picks and free agency, and moving our training facility to the airport, isn’t our fault but a matter of black magic at the hands of Leigh

RCD, Martyn and CCJ made the cut for the Tigs praccy.

No Ralphsmith.

Thought Martyn was pretty good in the scratch match the other day.
CCJ would of been handy if he wasn't suspended.
That’s decent news.

What was the talk of RCD having a fractured cheekbone, surely that can’t have been correct ? Lock if named R1

Copped a head knock in the intra a couple weeks back, wasn't cleared to play against the Dee's the other day because of the new concussion rules.
Yep, Lambert on the commentary of last weeks Dees Tiges game definitely said that he had a fractured cheekbone. Whether that was the entire truth who knows.

But either way, fantastic news! Hope he does well and gets up for Round 1. Have been a Keeper League owner of his for a couple of years now as well so desperate to get a look at him.

Yeah, the blokes that went and watched through the fence said he copped it early in the 1st q. Got taken to hospital as precaution also.
Don't need cheeks to play footy, he'll be fine.

As a mad Richmond supporter I can not wait to RCD out there. Put SuperCoach aside for a minute, his meant to be a real player for us.

The North recruiter they had in the box during the game (not sure who it was) stated this quite clearly. Basically Phillips hasn't played in 18 months while Powell had and even Lazzaro got to play in the Geelong preseason league or something along those lines so had played more.

Powell also had elite running patterns which was the bigger factor for them though and they had very high wraps on him.
