That's 6 then.

No room for Whitfield , Ryan , Ridley etc etc

I guess it depends on where you think the rookie strength is , seems on scores so far 6-8 of the more popular onfield options look dodgy , so if we replace them with bench options , where are the new 6-8 rookies coming from ?

Was thinking something like

1- 4 x $ 300k range - Rookie

Danger , Laird & 3.....
Cripps @ M6

Gawn , Grundy

Dusty , Heeney + Ziebell & Daniher

would leave 5 onfield rookies

one of the $ 300k defenders could be Heppell (via Laird)

Come tomorrow Ling , Chapman , Jones , Murray & Briggs all look viable we might be drowning in defender rookies 😀 and everything changes again
Clark is not a keeper and laird could always stay in the midfield. So leaves room for 2 more defenders

Lloyd , Mills , Stewart , Short , Laird , Daniels I read as your 6.

Why on earth would you leave Laird in the mids , surely premium mids are outscoring him ? so isn't he better off in defence ?
True if I end up with that back 6 season end I will be rapt. Haven’t got Daniels yet could quite easily be Whitfield but that bloke gets the most random injuries every year

About to watch the replay so the eye test might be different. But as someone who's been big on Caldwell all pre-season it's a great score IMO and a big tick. 75DT/87SC from 67% TOG with 24 disposals. Found a lot of it and used it well - 75% DE.

Happy for him to continue to fly under the radar.

Seems to be so many options.

It will be interesting if people still go 5 deep if Lloyd & Whitfield both miss Round 1.

I guess my 4 preferred have been Laird , Lloyd , Stewart , Whitfield.

Still like Docherty.

Love Daniels as a player.

Still think Crisp is viable due to his consistency and reliability.

This time tomorrow night hopefully we have more viable defender rookies able to select to balance up our starting sides better.

Had a more pure mid role in Q1 and Q4 from what I saw. Shiel off in Q4. Parish got more time on ball in Q2 and Q3 (but less in Q1). I think Caldwell had a bit more time on bench in Q2 and Q3 so it wasn't necessarily the case that he was playing more forward then. None the wiser whether he'll get a pure mid role but at least he's shown that if he does get it, he can score at the required level.

Do you think llyods sprained knee should sound alarm bells? Or still a safe pick?

To be honest all I know was the injury report on here , from memory was missing tomorrow's game as a precaution and resuming full training next week.

You would think if he is back in full training soon it can't be that much of a issue (if they are telling the media the truth)

@wogitalia might know more about it

Is it a concern Matt Flynn isn’t playing tomorrow?
Major if you were planning on him for R2, not so much for R3. Be interesting to see what Briggs dishes up though, Phil Davis made it sound like he's a chance to play as the 2nd ruck regardless of Flynn.

Flynn still would be worth picking round 1 if he didn't make it because as soon as he's playing he's a top tier cow.

Second concern this preseason, think the other was a calf? but don't quote me on it. Missed the first intra-club hitout as well. We often see those super durable guys crumble after a sustained period of health so there are concerns for sure.

He'll still score great though, for me I wanted him to play more for the truth of other Swans. If we see Mills back then we know he's 1 injury from the backline and can stick the fork in him at least but going to get very little info and probably misleading info on Dawson, Campbell and Ling.

What are your thoughts on Jiath? Will he play and have good JS ?
CJ is mercurial. He does great things and has potential but has moments where he will cost the team. Will be good in the long term.

I think that is what it will come down to - is Clarko in full rebuild (surely he is...), does CJ fit into that rebuild (yes) but how much patience will Clarko have before he kicks him to the VFL for a few poor performances.

I say CJ will play due to the Hawks injury list and his potential but don't know about his JS. Clarko is hard to judge/trust with rookies and young players.
