A bit more of a play around after the games this weekend.

Couldn't stay away from Fyfe...still concerns around his role when we have all our mids in but I just love having him in my team.

Not sure if I'm too lean in the midfield. Have gone 2 X proper fwd premiums but that means sacrificing one in the middle. Will see how the rookies fall and I guess that will decide my structure.

I don't think I'll be able to fully upgrade, it's still preseason and there's so many injuries, do we select endurance athletes? Anyway I've changed my team after each game, after viewing players roles. I've decided there's far too much risk in the forward rookies, especially with 3 or 4 having injury history. So I've added a couple of midpricers, including Orazio who also is injury prone, but I do like his role, plenty of supply coming his way.

Can see what you are trying to do.

What if you get one of Aliir/Taylor to a Butts or Cox price type

F MacRae & E Smith both looking unlikely maybe DPP swap out for Jones (Essendon)

Is Dow /Impey a option for Drew (via Caldwell) although if you were still keen on them both I guess you would have included them.

thanks Herbie, I want to maximise points in defence, hence the midpricers, also alleviating the risk of rookies not playing or scoring meh. I've left Finlay and Smith in the mids until I see today's games and for dpp flexibility. Dow was a hard one, he'll definitely have a role to play and should score well, maybe 70-75, but not in my team atm. These rookies are doing my head in, shortened game time, no training blocks from last year. One player the will dominate this year is 'Fatigue ' he's going to run rampant at the end of each quarter. So I'm not inclined to go full GnR rather midpricer this year. So many injuries and we haven't started yet.

3 premium defence , 2 mid pricers + Rookie at D6 I think is the more balanced approach.

Should still allow a 5 premium mid , Gawn & Grundy and at least 1 premium forward.

Totally agree though on the rookies , if they are named and we start them , a lot could vanish after a few games.

Seems a lot of clubs have Best 22 players ready to return in Round 2-4 which surely hurts rookies JS.

I think Cumming & H Young are the 2 popular ones , Jiath looks viable possibly a combo of Buckley , J Clark , L Young (all D/M) , Fantasia etc etc

Just need to keep shuffling the deck chairs around.

i think your mids are ok actually in terms of depth. Starting 3 over $600k including $700k Neale is stretching your def and forward rookies.
your D5-6 looks really exposed
I think Clark has to come into one of those spots
Or Fantasia/Young
Fyfe to Cripps could get this done.
Surely Cripps/Clark score better than Fyfe/Ling

thanks Herbie, don't like the Cumming pick, prefer Taylor, he only played a half and was on top of the leader board at half time. Was injured last year, actually sick, got an infection which penetrated his leg, hip and back, could hardly walk, didn't know if he would walk again, lost 10kg. I assume he's back now and GWS easing him in. He's a lockdown defender, but gets more touches than your usual lockdown type. Jiath doesn't interest me, he needs another season Buckley same, if things don't go as I expect, I can always downgrade, especially if a solid rookie choice appears, but atm I'll remain steadfast on my views. Keep them coming Herbie. 😁

Probably something like this (names can be substituted)

D: Any 3 + Cumming & Young + Butts

M: Merrett , Danger * , Boak , Tyson , Clark * , Dow * , Campbell , Bruhn (or Powell)

R: Gawn , Grundy

F: Dusty * , Heeney , ZDI , Cox *

gives

3-2-3
3-0-8
2-0-1
2-0-6

= 10-2-18 structure

$ 250k to make adjustments + have used a expensive bench so could be able to upgrade one of Tyson , Clark , Dow easily enough

anyway that's my thinking

@Herbie66

Template if you want to go sans Gawn and Grundy.

How do you end up with less premiums though 🤔

I see 10

question mark on Cripps

Sloane , Taranto still need to be upgraded

3 onfield rookies + 6 $ 200k guys

you actually are not getting too much of a advantage at all

interesting though to see without Cahill , Butts , Cox , Warner , Jones (Ess)

ZDID all down could nearly upgrade Meek

wonder if you actually get a better balance using say Nank & Big 0

Yeah I’m not a fan but it’s good to see teams with rookies on other lines just in case a major structure change is needed when round 1 teams start to drop.
I don’t like Rowell or Cripps either.
If you could get it up to 15 or 16 premiums (can't see how $$$ wise) it could possibly work.

I think some of our problems could be starting too many of these $ 200-250 k players + Campbell.

Seemingly looks like 4-5 < $ 117k mids for Round 1 plus Rowe & Treacy.

Could even have 2 $ 160k rookie defenders but people may be reluctant to start both off them onfield.

Even getting rid of the $200k and up players would make this near impossible depending on how we classify a premium.
