Gawn's opponents in the first few rounds lol:

1. Meek
2. Hunter
3. Flynn
4. Stanley/Fort
5. Mcenvoy/Ceglar
6. Nank

That's probably the easiest possible combination available out of all rucks in the AFL. Long term I think having 15-20% less stoppages will hurt him, but not early on.

I don't think Hunter can be considered as an option.

Ryder back round 3 ish, Marshall round 4 ish, both are automatic selections when they return, immediately pushing Hunter out. Not enough time for him to make the cash.
What are you basing round 3ish on for Ryder? I wouldn't want to speculate too much on it but it seems a pretty serious thing to ask for leave a week out from the season and the vague language they are using suggests to me they're not thinking that sort of timeframe. Hard to know for sure obviously.

Not saying he is a must pick for supercoach teams but saying he looks good to be playing to start the year.

Also I don't know that there is a timetable on Ryders return? It could be indefinite. He is also someone they will rest throughout the year so having Hunter at R3 who can make cash and also be used as a loophole if he doesn’t play surely has to be considered for $102k

I'm still iffy on the rookie R2 despite having 3 options on the table.

Flynn – We think he's the man, but who knows. Big leap of faith as none of us have seen him. No idea how bad said rolled ankle is as well.
Meek – Will ruck until Darcy is back? Darcy still touch and go for R1.
Hunter – Will be in the side for a few weeks until Ryder/Marshall are back.

Serious question marks on all of their medium-term job security as @Hondo points out.

I also don't buy into the narrative that Jackson might take considerable CBA's against the 'easier' rucks. Melbourne will be desperate to start the season as well as they possibly can, and I'm near certain that's with the games premier ruckman doing the lions share of work in the middle while still in his prime as a 28 year old.

Might I still have a rookie at R2 come next Thursday? Maybe, but I'd want to hear something solid from GWS that Flynn is their man and that he's fit and raring to go for round 1.
Max Gawn is 29 btw

Very interesting stat. Hmmmm. So many ruck options. Any one considering a Draper or Martin at R2.?

My Heart say Grundy....but then I see Gawn and his first 3 match ups. As mentioned everywhere on the forum, different game this year.?
Gawn at the moment with 2 of the other 4.

Think I have a 3-2-Fantasia defence that I don't mind.

Butts & Cox don't inspire me with much confidence , 4-6 others might be named , but probably not.

Laird at M6.

Not sure on Bruhn & Powell at M7 & M8 so hopefully more of Brockman , Downie , Gulden , Larazzo , Sharp , Scott , E Smith are named (5+ would be ideal)

Leaves Ziebell at F1 with plenty of price options under him.

Just build my team as best I can , without a even spread of rookies , one line looks like it has to suffer.

So the Saints are going to rush both these guys back with no match fitness at all?
You’re right.

Paddy is an unknown so I won’t go there.

If Saints have Hunter / McKernan doing an okay job then they will have no need to rush Marshall. In fact he (Marshall) is too valuable to rush back regardless. Add to the fact that stress fractures in the foot are not something you want to toy with, especially early in the season.

Hunter looks in for me, with Meek and Flynn still in the mix.

Great discussion around the rookie priced ruckmen, but, if there's an injury or 2 on this line or our injury prone friends in the forward line there could be some carnage, think I'll stick to Grawndy. 😁
