A team full of Adam Goodes would absolutely slay I reckon....
He'd dominate.

Pav would be the other one I'd consider, spending time at both ends and could run.

Anyone else planning to include Bruhn, especially if we are light on rookies?
He's been in and out of my team. I think he's about that 28-32 range in my list of preferred players, so it's depending on how the other guys around him go in getting named.

Speaking generally about GWS rookies, no matter how good they look to us they don’t seem to always get the good consistent run at it that we want.

Green last year is one example. Hately another.

There would be examples the other way I’ve forgotten.
Think they were mids who couldn’t crack the deep midfield, I reckon Bruhn is a bit different and they have a few holes up forward

Add Bergman, Highmore and Warner to this who dont seem much better than 50/50 to play rd 1
It's why I'm looking at going the 3 rookie rucks again. It will be nightmare trying to upgrade out of them but they look like being in the top 6 or so round 1 rookies this season for scoring and their JS, compared to others is pretty decent (hoping I haven't just completely jinxed it)

Can’t remember a preseason being less clear on options.

And as a consequence less sure re. structure.
It's one of those years where you've got to have 4 or 5 structures and combination of players (non-rookies) that you're happy with and then just go with the one that fits with the rookies as selected. But even then, there is just so much doubt. I suspect we may end up using one or two extra adjustment trades.

I suppose it does reinforce the argument that if the best certainty exists with the rookie rucks (eg Flynn and Meek), you have to seriously consider only one G. I'm still not at that point but Rd 1 teams could change things.

Wow, that's big news. Is it just me or does Collingwood rarely blood rookies in Rd 1? I'm struggling to recall many occasions in recent years where the pre-season talk has been about Pies players. Stephenson was one from memory.
Rookies at Collingwood usually get pretty good treatment. I'd say Henry's JS is definitely on the stronger side compared to other rookies, it's his scoring potential that's a huge issue.

<10% chance of making my team at this stage.

Stephenson ended up a decent rookie too if I remember right. Will be hard to leave him out with the temptation of locking in a playing rookie so early in the round.

The $135k price tag is not a huge difference but may throw out a few team structures that have relied on sub-$123k rookies.

His form in the praccy v Geelong was good. Did some nice things. The 27 DT, 7 SC from 72% TOG v Richmond put me off.

Yeah for sure - not saying he is the next coming of jesus but going from a bloke that's being raved about in the PS and clearly is going to be given a shot rd 1 to being out of the team rd 3 (I know NT mightnt have been being literal) is, within the realms of a public forum, a big call

I listen to NT's thoughts as much as anyone. I'll be happy to Dow can do 65 but I agree the guy looks like a plodder I just hope he can do enough for 8 or 9 rounds
I just don't know what is supposed to change after 4 seasons, I'm very nervous on him as most see value in him, I guess he is only $200k and all you're really looking for is job security and reading tthrough Carlton boards, many think he does. I just remember him standing under that ball in the game against Saints and seeing him crap himself thinking as a coach I'd be wary of his commitment to the contest.

I'll see what rookies are available first, would've liked to have seen one more pre-season game.

Yeah I don’t think anyone can be too confident in him but he’s a warm body when there aren’t too many presenting. That being said Ill do everything I can to avoid him.

I wouldn't not pick him based on being uncomfortable under a high ball in a practice match. I know the incident you are referring to and J. Brown, who was one of the bravest ever, commented something along the lines of "geez you don't want to be stuck under one of those in the first practice match". Walsh pulled out of one later on as well - in a real game I'd have been critical, but like players from all teams, to some extent they are preserving themselves for round 1.

Someone mentioned above that Dow has not broken into a relatively weak Carlton side in 4 years. He has played 42 games, with only 3 last year due to injury (and was not fully fit in those 3). He has been picked every time he has been fit. LDU was drafted with the pick after him but has played only 30 games, and is rated a big chance to really breakout.

From Nathan Van Berlo today re: Nick Murray.

"Nick rolled his ankle at training on Saturday but we're hopeful he'll be okay this weekend. He hasn't trained earlier this week, he's pretty sore but we're told it's one we can expect to improve later in the week so we'll give him every opportunity and we'll just see how he pulls up later in the week".

What @The Experiment said.
But fingers crossed we get clubs that are playing Sunday announcing any debutants earlier prior to that Friday night lockout. Would make things much easier.
Because Gil clearly doesn't play Supercoach.
haha nah no doubt there's no reason for them to announce it days out, just another annoying thing to deal with from our end, going to be a headache all year.
