Bachar Houli is one of two players missing from Richmond’s winning team in 2020 with a calf niggle keeping the veteran out, while two-time premiership player Marlion Pickett has been named as an emergency.

Small forward Jake Aarts and Josh Caddy come into the team that defeated Geelong in October.

Carlton will have two club debutants for the clash at the MCG, with new recruits Lachie Fogarty and Adam Saad set to pull on the navy blue for the first time.

However, the Blues suffered a setback leading into the match with Jack Martin missing through injury. Eddie Betts was also left out of the squad of 26.

Talls Harry McKay and Levi Casboult have been named despite injury setbacks in the pre-season.

A player from each club’s emergency list will be named as the medical sub, with the team to be confirmed 60 minutes ahead of the first bounce.

And the once great game of Australian Rules Football further descends into a farce by the self appointed "custodians of the game' the AFL. What a joke of an organisation - the people in charge of making the rules must also be in charge of website design.

Seriously if it wasn't for fantasy football i would switch the garbage off....now onto the more important things like any good coach....how do I exploit the rules these buffoons have come up with to get an advantage over other coaches?
Blame the coaches for being whiney little muppets. Ever since the game began teams at all levels have been losing players to injury and just went on with it and, in a lot of situations, the short handed team still managed to find a way to win the game.

Yes we have less rotations now and yes the game is quicker, but literally nothing has changed this year to dictate the reintroduction of substitutes, which if I recall correctly was something that ended up being universally panned by players and coaches not so long ago and, in a some notable instances, was a contributing factor in a younger player not coming on and developing in the way they might have.

If subs will help the game be played faster then the AFL will be in full support of the coaches being whiney.

If Marlion Pickett is not a better player than Aarts or Caddy, then I'm Sigmund Freud.
I don't understand this selection at all and I'm a disapointed tigers man .
He kept us in the GF in the first half with his hardness.
Re selection- I'm sticking with Cripps, Martin and Short.
Dow's history is too mediocre for me.
