Parked in the forward line for quite a bit
Sometimes coaches get a stupid idea in their heads and run with it - Cripps should never have been taken out the midfield in the second half, but Teague unfortunately has this dumb idea in his head that his best midfielder who has been running his guts out will somehow have the energy to magically morph into an (undersized) hit up forward.

Not sure whether not making this dumb change would have won Carlton the game in the end, but Cripps and Walsh were tearing it up at the stoppages and around the ground in the first half.

Can't complain, wont know if Dusty hurts until tomorrow after Dunkley plays. Walsh looked awesome, but I never considered. Short didn't go on with it, so didnt hurt and Cripps did what I thought and went sub 100 because he played forward for too long.

Dow was never tempting, far too soft, unfortunately, because he has the talent. Docherty had a good 2nd half, but I never considered him either. So happy to have held my nerve and not let FOMO get the better of me. Good game of footy though..

Watching Walsh tonight just says to me that hard-running, balanced midfielders should be big winners this season. Plodding inside mids who need contested handballs may struggle. Think Macrae may be the highest scoring player this year.

Also if the subs are going to be used every game, scores overall may dip. 46 players sharing points now.

I brought him into my team after seeing some comments posted from Teague.

At half time I was feeling very happy about that decision. Now, not so much.
He was my worry child, was surprised to see his score at half time but thought no worries but watching the game, I can see plenty of these types of scores in the future. That real contested ball from stoppages where Cripps excels looks gone to me which has me worried about the rucks. He doesn’t get to enough contests and I honestly think this may affect Oliver also. If you can’t spread, take a mark, receive a handball and kick I think their scores could suffer.
I would be very surprised if Macrae, Kelly, Neale, Bont, Merrett are not top 5 mids this season.

So I had Short 100, Cripps 89, Dow 59 - surely relative to expectation Cripps is the biggest disappointment. I'd say one below par and two par. Not a great first night, but not a disaster either. Got a good game of footy to watch into the bargain!

Walsh- looked great, kicking was good, a few dodgy calls and non-calls from the umps cost him a bigger score.
Cripps- great first half, looked cooked for most of the rest of the game. Hopefully the first half was more of an indication of what we'll see this season. He's no use to the side forward, doesn't mark the ball or get to the right spots.
Short- I can see how easy it would be for a player like him to go huge every now and then to boost their average now. After the first 10 or so minutes he was hardly involved in the game, got tagged for a bit, still had 20 kicks and 700 metres gained.

I'm not worried about missing on Dusty yet, we know he's capable of this. He's only back it up game after game once in his career. Docherty- see Short. Dow- like I said after his last game, you'd be ok with that performance if he was a cheaper rookie. The only thing that could keep him in the side after than 2nd half is the fact that O'Brien's an even more disappointing player who's worse in a contest. Also what is Caboult still doing out there for Carlton? They've tried to pension him off to another club plenty of times and yet they keep letting him out there to fumble around.
