Unless the Hawks players are being told lies by the selection committee, I’ve just had it confirmed again today that Downie is going to be the sub.

To be hoenst, it shouldn’t catch anyone out as we’ll see him named either as one of the 4 EMGs tonight or in the 22.
How would you rate the JS on the 3? Assume Downie is in the 22, else if he is the sub, then I guess we know where he stands.

Richmond
Was at the game last night and can confirm the Buddy arc was used by smart players taking shots from long range, particularly when kicking from the "right" side for their preferred foot. A Richmond player (can't remember who) did it in the first or second quarter kicking to the city end from the HFF. The ump was side on so did not call play on but from behind the arc was quite noticeable. Basically meant he didn't have to kick over the man on the mark at all and essentially improved his angle and was able to kick from closer range. A Carlton player did similar in the second half. McKay had a couple of set shots where he was on the "wrong side" for a left footer so it didn't assist him.
McIntosh.

He just kept on walking in, ump didn't know what to do.

North Melb.
Gee looking at tonight I have 5 Dogs on field and potentially another on the bench, with zero Collingwood players.

Fair chance I know who to cheer for then, though their record against the Pies recently has been pretty junk.

If you’re going on the assumption that Downie is in the 22. Then it’s Kosi, Downie, Brockman. But that’s if I was basing it if no information about Downie being sub entirely, and thinking he has a role in the 22.

Would have given it to the Dogs tonight. Too much run and skill under the new rules and on their home deck. Then I realised we are actually playing our home game against them on our home ground for once. That's nice. Evens up the contest a bit, especially if it gets a bit dewy but I'd still back the Bulldogs if I was a neutral. Collingwood, for all its triathlete training, is not a good red time team and I can see us really getting stretched as the longer quarters and reduced interchanges take their toll.

I didn't pick Cripps and was kicking myself at half time. Felt better by the end of the game. But if you have him, I wouldn't worry. He was in absolute beast mode in that first half. Just running through tackles, dishing off, hitting targets. Doing all the things he's built for. I couldn't really tell where he was playing in the second half but it was certainly clear he'd gone missing. Picked up a bit in the final.

It may be that the cap on interchanges is going to mean that players will be used in bursts. He was certainly playing that way in the first half. I actually said to the guys I was with at the game at quarter time that this style of play will not be sustainable for four quarters. Probably bodes well for the Bulldogs with so many midfield options
I wonder how this might work out for players like Treloar who generally need more time on the bench between bursts.

Jeremy Cameron missing has me worried about Danger spending more time forward
Happy for Danger to spend more time forward. Better than the bench. Hell he could spend all game up there this weekend as far as I'm concerned. Geelong is going to have 70 inside 50s against Adelaide by the time they're done and there's a good chance that Danger permanently forward would be on the end of about 40 of them. And if Nicks floods, then it just means that those 40 possessions will all be contested.

(I may be exaggerating a bit)

How long is McStay supposed to be out for? Like Fullarton much better than Jones as an option, Jones has the JS though.
Latest injury report had him as 2-5 weeks.

I guess it depends on how you set your Rucks up , start Fullarton (or Treacy) forward and then swing into R3 or trade for Treacy at the right time.

Jones & Rowe seemingly both have strong JS so they seem ideal to leave on the bench until you need to upgrade Ziebell & Daniher , so maybe can wait until the Byes.

I guess with Fullarton you are hoping he plays enough to make some $$$ otherwise look at another starting option.

Don't think he will make enough money given his position, scoring history and what looks to be at most three price rises. Jones better as a slow burner.

If and when Daniher breaks he might even keep his spot when McStay returns.

I think I like the option of just leaving Jones & Rowe on my bench for as long as I can.
