Maxy just noted in HT interview that he feels like he is stuck in no-mans-land given the flow of the game......
"I'm actually stuck in no man's land. Need to find a role out there."

Gawn half-time interview...
It’s funny cause I was thinking just this.. often found himself just too far away from the shorter contest and then when he finally crept forward the kicks went over his head! Also though he was unlucky cause often he was in the right spot and then the play abruptly switch to the other direction. Reckon that’s the most he’s run for so little reward in a while!

Meek looks like he’s putting a tight tagging job on him too.

Lots of reasons he’s struggling.. but reckon he has the fitness base and footy IQ to work through it. Also not sure there will be many games played in balmy 25 degrees with minimal wind so stoppages would come.

But! For his price you don’t want to be needing to think (and hope) on any of the above. Concerning signs but not panicking yet..

I love round 1 melts/ overreactions

Looong way to go, it is impossible to nail all of your starting picks/ especially this year with the rule changes (small sample size).

Disappointing from Gawn but still have faith he can scrap a 100 from here.

Jordan looks excellent, he looks a correction trade for many.
Normally I'd agree. In the Gawn case, he's 750k and the opportunities to score big points haven't been there in the first half. The ball's going over his head in both directions, there doesn't seem to be much for him to do outside the contest. I went with Gawn C and two rookie because I convinced myself that he's not like the other rucks etc. As it turns out, he probably is under the current circumstances.

I was going to roll with Draper myself until we know what’s what. Generally we have an idea after a few rounds who’s going to be the top 2. Might be a bit more of an open race this year if what we’ve seen from 2.5 games is anything to go by.
Draper was a popular choice on that other site I occasionally visit , but sometimes get in trouble when I mention their name here 😀

I have gone all rookie ruck , so based on Grundy & Gawn I should be happy if they score 30-40.

If it is affecting the premium rucks theoretically it should affect them all relative to their scores.

But until everyone has played we won't know this for sure , then either wait again for Round 2 to re-assess or do something crazy/maybe stupid.

Their has been enough discussion to fill a book on the rucks so far , just curious now to see how Goldy , Nic Nat & ROB score in comparison to Gawn & Grundy.

If they are scoring 70-80 themselves then no idea what people do.

Need to see a full round or 2 at least to look at all the rucks and see who is viable.

No use trading them out if the alternatives are scoring similar or less.

Round 1 scores have minimal effect on their price changes as well.
Would love to have read it all, but alas work has been hectic enough to stop me.

Gawn nice intercept mark in defence at the beginning of the quarter helps to start us off on the right foot.

One thing to keep in mind with some of the rookie rucks is how fast paced the games have been. Watching Gawn huffing and puffing during the interview at half time (and his fitness base is pretty good) suggests a need for a chunk of preseasons to be able to stay effective over the whole game. Not sure some of the younger guys (Flynn possibly being an exception given he’s been in the system a while) would have base fitness to run out these games..

In 2019 Bailey Scott (NM) scored a ton in his debut game against the Dockers then played three more games and never seen again that season. Hard to line up the consistency of rookies.
Was it Josh Glenn from the Suns who many went early on after 1 game , dropped after his second then came back late in the season to play.

May be wrong here but not sure he’s even been on an AFL list? Understand he’s been playing but reckon there would be a huge difference between a 28 year old who’s been playing SANFL level (I think?) vs guys established in the system.

Meek has barely fired a shot since quarter time and looks pretty gassed

Didnt even know other sites existed ;)

Think loose change plays a huge role in the Gawn v no Gawn decision. Use it well and you’ll get a huge leg up.
