Suns vs West Coast

General - What an ugly game to watch. Stagnant, non-physical and low skill. Just terrible. Nothing to do with new rules, both teams struggled to even hit targets to take advantage of it anyway. Hitouts super low again and with two of the very top rucks I think it's safe to say there is a change afoot if things continue this way.

Eagles - Have to worry with that, looked to have no way to take advantage of the rules and given they're at home against one of the weakest sides who lost their best midfielder early and they still struggled to win. The midfield is an issue.

Sheed - Racked it up but the definition of empty stats and bad usage. Will score well while Shuey and Yeo are out as he always does.

Hurn - Turning back the clock, benefit of bad skills and stagnant game.

Kelly - One of the lone standouts who actually played well. Really relished being the only quality midfielder on the field. Used it a lot better than usual also.

Barrass - Going to look good when both teams are kicking you the ball! Played great.

Allen - Class above the other forwards in this one, every time the ball went to him it was likely they'd score or at least have a contest.

Duggan - Great first half and then went missing. Didn't seem to be any reason for it but I'm blaming the haircut.

Gaff - Rubbish game from him, solid late junk didn't help his SC but I've only got him in DT so that's a little win... just not working hard but at least he kept working and did junk.

NicNat - Another ruck struggling, I think most expected him to struggle with reduced stoppages, he was great at them but given he does little else it's difficult.

Suns - Would also not be happy. Should have won and their kicking and decision making cost them the game, they need to start winning these games. Didn't really do anything well which is the worry.

Bowes - Just waxing off half back. Definitely a Lloyd imitation. Kick-ins and just cheap touches, which there were a lot available in this game.

Markov - Ditto.

Swallow - Solid by him.

Lukosius - Really solid game but even he couldn't hit targets in this one consistently. Still worried about the role long term for fantasy purposes.

Witts - Same deal as the other rucks, struggled to find ways to impact the game outside the stoppages.

King - Stinker for him, kicked 3 but dropped so many easy marks, he really should have kicked 6 or 7 and it was demoralising for the mids.

Anderson - Just didn't put the points up, role was solid but not great.

Rowell - :(

To me that was a typical early season GC game. They out-worked the opposition for most of it, kept it low scoring until late and weren't far off scraping over the line. This time their focus is uncontested footy and maintaining possession instead of keeping the ball inside the contest and making it a scrap, ultimately the result is still negative footy. The test isn't whether they can play like this when they're still fresh and their opponents aren't firing on all cylinders, it's whether they can stay competitive outside the first couple of months of the season.

I didn't even have him and I feel this on a visceral level. Here's hoping it's not a 2-3 month injury like they were saying on the call...
Based on the options... that seems like the good end of the outcomes but would be great if it's below that! 6 weeks would seem like a pretty outstanding outcome at this point.
