Have Danger, if out for 3, would normally trade like for like, but I have Dunks, Dusty and Phillips, so could bury him on bench.
But am contemplating trading Danger for Ziebell, who was in my team all pre season, but dropped out when I decided to go all rookie ruck.
Avoided Hawks mid/for rookies, but no Jordon, but do have McNeil on mid bench.
Defence looks ok with J Clark at D6 (Sharp in mids), Kosi and Highmore on pine. So many good defenders this year. Only one game, but little disappointed I didn't stick with my H Clark selection. I think Ziebell is a priority, so Danger to him could be an option, then if McNeil is dropped I could get a premium mid or defender with Laird D/M. Very tricky.
Edit: do have Bergman aswell.

Anyone considering Stephenson? 354k is an awkward price but see his heat map below

Solid 33 touches and 110+ SC in a 50 point blowout

Also can someone that watched the Sydney game please explain how Hickey managed 23 disposals (one less than Lloyd lol) and whether that’s sustainable as a solo ruck for Syd? (Weighing up options for Gawn)
I was on Stephenson but i was talked out of him. I dont think his role is concrete and neither is his body, plus hes priced a little higher than the rest that you would look at instead?

So for those with Rowell... what are the plans? This is kind of the worst case scenario given the island he lives on price wise. McGrath probably the strongest sideways guy, other positions throw up some interesting options though.
I was thinking a total trade down to someone like Jordan? And then keep the cash for the future

Thanks Darkie

It was kinda funny because Cumming was in all my early Jan/Feb drafts, so my team did full circle. In hindsight (only had about 20 mins to make the decision), I think I should have Ex ante gone for Young, who was in my team 3 days out, and ex post Bowes. Though not disappointed in Cumming, played a good role, will make $$ and a single trade to keeper with the cash saved.

Thanks to those who suggested 1. Bowes, off their own bat, no less and 2. H Clarke over Duggan from my list. Definitely helped me because Duggan was high up there (above H Clark).

Now, via the magic of DPPs Danger to Bowes/Dusty/Daniel/Oliver/Titch)?

Ah - if you’re able to go back to someone you liked previously, that’s even better.

I would apply that logic to your Danger replacement as well.

Personally Bowes seems by some distance the highest risk, albeit his role sounded very good. Oliver and Titch would normally be rock solid, but some preseason concerns do worry me a bit, especially the risk of them being fatigued late in games/after a few games (I know Titch killed it in the second half). I would probably err on Dusty or Daniel (both of whom I have - the others I don’t).

Looking at one trade this week.

Out Duggan
In Young

Will leave me $230K in the bank for next week corrections.

Did not see any of the WC game yesterday. Interested on what Duggans role was prior to pulling the trigger on this. Feedback appreciated @GrainFedBeef @lavenderbandit @Lost In The Sky
I'm interested in this one too, lol.

He seemed to be going OK at half time, but went out of the game after that did he have a roll change?

I got burnt by trading Brayshaw out early last year, so don't want to be burnt again, but if he is not going to get a favouralble roll going forward, might be best to cut losses now and move on.

I also need to get Flynn on ground so one of Gawn or Grundy probably need to go. Grundy probably the one to go I guess.

Don't like trading premiums, but can't have potentially the best scoring rookie on the bench with nothing to do.

Speaking of cutting losses early. Docherty concerned me before the season started. Seeing Newnes and Saad take so much responsibility for exiting D50 has me even more worried about Doch now.
Thoughts?

They guy scored 94 for 496k, bit tough to be dropping him already, I think if a 94 from Docherty is your biggest problem then your team must be in pretty good shape ;)

I remember once in the game try to work his posiion out as his scoring was poor, looked to be more defender again. 83pct of possessions in defensive zone tells the story.

What hurt him is Hurn was more back to his old role, whereas last year they moved Hurn part way in the year to be more deeper.

1st game and Hurns age will mean this could change again.

Would give it another week with change to Young. Look at the difference in scoring for eagles defenders between round 1-2, appreciate 2 months apart. Re Young, are demons giving up a lot of points, Young started slow and finished well.

I think what you saw on the weekend from Cumming is about what to expect. Will get given the ball a bit to send it out, has a long kick but not an effective kick, a fair few turnovers, and poor defensively, until he gets dropped.

Rowell > Titchell.

Was saving cash to bring in Dusty after his explosion, so after Dangerfield's inevitable suspension I'm using the cash to remedy this instead.

He still scored 94 even with a couple of bad errors in the last quarter.

Also, it would pay to wait and see what happens next week when Williams is back.
Yeah, that's fair. Definitely upset because I had Mills all preaseason and made a last minute change.
But it will be season killer if Doch averages 90-95, the way defenders are looking.
Team is solid. Would've been top 100 with two different rookie field selections.

Round 1 scores from 2020:

Gawn 93
Oliver 99
Lloyd 77
Bont 76
Hunter 84
Danger 83
M Crouch 68

All averaged 110+.
This re iterates the need to make trades only to injured players >2 weeks. I look at it as coaching a junior team. You wouldnt make changes after 1 poor performance surely? Give them a second chance at least.
On notice:
Tyson (just a very bad game and his disposal was shocking). I suppose he has points in the bank to see him again.

Hmm. Maybe that's my issue. If I was coaching a junior team, I'd make changes every quarter, so kids don't get stuck in the backline. 🤣

Don't think I'll be making any trades this week. Will have another look at De Goey especially as I kind of saw that whole game as a write off for all Collingwood players as the Bulldogs dominated possession. Jordon and/or McDonald may come into calculations this week but won't make a move early.

For those looking at trading out premiums that aren't injured, just remember of the concept of regression toward the mean.

A few things to mull over.
Grundy / ROB ruck combo - was it just a bad Rd1 start or a sign of things to come? Will have another look at Rd2 but trading ROB and getting another FWD an option. (Flynn to R2 & Treacy (F8->R3) which would also have risk.) Also need to see how Flynn pulls up after the ankle injury.

Dangerfield - if he gets 3+ weeks I'll be moving him on. Either Dunkley (who I had in there all pre-season) or Titch via DPP.

O Henry - woeful start to his SC career. Will give him another week before making a call. Jordan the obvious replacement for cash cow value, but McDonald also an option.

If Danger gets 3 weeks then,

Considering
Danger > Martin
Cahill > Fantasia

Fantasia looked great, moving far better than previous years.
I'm a little more wary of Fantsasia after that game to be honest.

Only putting up 94 points after kicking 4.4 where he was basically unchecked for the entire game and not facing any sort of effective team defensive structure against probably the worst team in the competition right now probably puts a bit more of a cap on his scoring than I was expecting coming in.

I guess it depends on how you view him, but he probably needs to get his hands on the ball more and tackle a bit more to prop up the scoring from his goalkicking, if he is being picked as a potential premo stepping stone who could average something in the 80's.
