Exactly, how can your gun player not know?

If things aren't going as you have planned, surely you just adjust & go to plan B then plan C etc

Maybe Goodwin just has a plan A & if that doesn't work then so be it :p

On a more serious note, every club would be dissecting every game today/ going through all the data so the rucks stats would be highlighted.

It will be very interesting to see how clubs adjust & come up with plans - obviously for most of us it will be all eyes on Grundy & Gawn to see what changes are made. 2 absolute keys for their respective teams so it is imperative for them to have a greater impact going forward than they did on the weekend. Gawn has Hunter & McKernan this week, if Flynn was able to boss Hunter then surely Gawn takes him to the cleaners?
Grundy v Pittonet, you would think Grundy would bounce back but those Buckley comments were concerning ... think he was just bluffing the journos, Grundy has never shown too much when played fwd of the ball so can't see the logic myself.
The one thing that I think played into Flynn's advantage (even though he did smash Hunter/McKernan) is that his game was played in bad conditions. I haven't seen the stoppages count from that game versus the rest of them but I wouldn't be surprised if it was on the higher end.

He's the type I was thinking about exactly.

Josh Fraser before we broke him
I am actually a massive believer in what Bevo was doing using Dunkley , Macrae & Bont the way he did.

Turn a weakness into a strength.

Jim Stynes comes to mind , Dean Cox.

Grundy seems to have lost his running capacity and link up ability a lot now.

Might need a ruck type F50 , D50 and the Dunkley type at CBA.

Listening to a Stef Martin interview, he said he used his body to push into Grundy so he'd be off balance, something to that effect. I think we'll see 2nd efforts from Grundy on Thursday, if he misses a hitout he'll be tackling.

Just as I suspected, the GWS game had the most, the weather was bad up in Sydney.
It was a bit that but also both clubs were still committed playing it down the boundary and numbers behind the ball, whereas most other games saw at least one club willing to cut it back inboard to take advantage of the rule changes. I didn't see much of the Melbourne game to see how they were playing, but Brisbane and Collingwood both attempted to use the boundary and were foiled by the Swans and Dogs respectively IIRC.

Full disclosure, grawndy owner, but at this point I don't have a convincing argument to drop them.

My current position is that they will still be 1 and 2 at the end of the season, with the averages of all rucks decreasing slightly (due to new rule changes) but not significantly (when coaches set up new structures to slow the game down).

If the above holds true, the only feasible trading path here is a temp structure change to bank some on-field points with flynn and a small cash gen from buying back at a cheaper price. Not convinced this is worth burning 2-3 trades though.

Anyway, check in with me next Monday when I'm rolling Flunteek 😂
personally dont see how this fast football persists for 23 weeks

I don't get it, we have another ruckman in Cox that Grundy can swap with up forward.
I suppose Buckley means that we will give Cox more ruck minutes?
I would actually be fully on board with rotating Cox a bit more through the ruck and Brodie resting forward - would do a total mind job on any KPD, as they are really chalk and cheese in terms of how they play.

I suspect though that Buckley is thinking more about Cameron.

I am super worried about Hunter. Originally I had GG most of the preseason, then 2-3 weeks out Gawn-Flynn-Meek.
Hunter was a last week decision that I was hoping would make it to 4 games at 65-75, that seems super unlikely judging on how Flynn toweled him up.
My only hope Is Ryder stays in W.A for 3+ more weeks or else I'll have to restructure.
While there was somewhat of an obvious experience gap between Flynn and Hunter I would say that Hunter largely held his own in the first half and had some good moments both in the ruck and around the ground.

The decision to use McKernan as the primary ruck in the second half was the real head-scratcher from Ratten - he was the one who got towelled up by Flynn for the most part. Only thing I can think of is that Hunter may have been a bit gassed with the combination of the heavy conditions and the step up in intensity with an actual AFL game for premiership points.

I agree that Cox could play more ruck, but unlikely good for Grundy's SC points.
It seems that is what Buckley is saying, but Cameron, Grundy and Cox seems like too many talls, not sure Buckley would prefer that.

Collingwood had the lowest Inside 50 count equal with Carlton being 41 for the round. Doesn’t matter who you stick inside 50, if it isn’t getting in there, he ain’t going to catch it.
