I am planning to hold Dangerfield. I see a lot of people chasing last weeks points. Better for me to have another weeks info on all these players and get a better idea if it was a one week peak or a genuine lift in scoring for Mills, Walsh, Mitchell etc.
Not going for outright. Trades are gold.
Agree, however there will be some people who took a punt on a potential breakout premo that doesn’t look like it will come to fruition even if it is only after one round.
eg. Duggan
Watched him last week and thought he was just ordinary so I am thinking of offloading him already. It could backfire but risk vs reward I guess 🤷

I feel far too much is being put into this "he didn't have a Vegas trip".

He could be the greatest individual player this year, BUT, like all at our club he does the team thing to get the job done.
There was a lot to learn from the 2018 season where Richmond pumped the opposition in the praccy matches (87 and 70 points) and peaked far too early.

There is a bit of Rd 1 excitement every year "to play in Carlton's Grand Final" and Carlton brought a serious game plan last week. Dustin jumped out of the gates well as he has done most years.

I really hope he keeps it going but my sense is he just does what he needs to do and contributes to the team game.

I'll readily admit to having a bias, but it's the opposite of what you think. I love watching him play and contribute to my team but I try not to pick Richmond players unless it makes sense ( at the moment Dustin is not in my team - He will be at some time if/when the price is right).

Hope he proves me wrong and all with him in their team get vindicated though
I agree. He's probably just had his best score of the year and will still have a price drop. I don't think anything has changed for those who decided before rnd 1 that they would buy a cheaper Dusty. I would be using Danger to target a mid.

Against all my better judgement I have made a "correction" trade this week, bringing in Ziebell for Quaynor (Fantasia goes to defence opening a D/F link).

I wouldn't have done it, but it frees up a bunch of $$ that will enable me to make any fixes next week that I need to before price changes.

I currently have _most_ of the rookies I need, but am expecting to have to add at least 1 next week, and may also need to add another premo perhaps.

I'd been pretty out of touch the last month for various reasons and reverted away from my side that had lower priced rucks that funded Mills and Bowes. I had checked what that had cost me in terms of ruck points, but it realised last night what it had cost me in MPM points. Hopefully that will correct this week, before I get tempted next week to chase what could have been.

A lot of talk about Dusty.. and he is on my short list for Danger replacement if I decide to trade.

The thing that stood out the most to me in the round 1 game was in the 4th quarter when just about no player could move they were so cooked, Dusty was skating around like it was the first quarter. Clean disposals and was running rings around everyone - genuinely looked like he could have played another 1-2 quarters.

Fitness bases will improve over the season but one consistent trend over round 1 was how tired teams looked in the final quarter - if Dusty has the fitness base to play out the game without slowing down that just about makes him a no brainer, especially as a FWD.
I think he's a no-brainer this year any way, I've been big on him and honestly believe he'll have a career best year and win the Charlie. He's matured, he's got goals and appears focussed to improve his game and drag Richmond across the line when needed. His role is great IMO where he can play forward with that contested goal kicking role, but also has a licence and appears the awareness now to inject himself into the game when needed.
I used to really question his commitment but I don't know but something just looks to have clicked..........

Yeah I agree with you.. I wonder if now he's had so much team success (he always said that was his priority) he's comfortable chasing some extra individual glory. Could (and should) be a multiple brownlow medalist so this could be him making sure he gets there!

I personally don’t mind the idea of holding Dangerfield at this stage.

However, trading Gawn this week seems illogical with no price movements this week and him coming up against the Saints.
Agreed re Gawn but I can’t get Heeney in without doing so and hold Danger on the bench. S Martin will at least make some money and provide approximately 75% of Gawns score.

Sticking with just Danger to Mitchell.

Cox will almost certainly be traded next week. Watching Ziebell and Lachie Young again this week before making the move.

Have all of the decent rookies so I'll be conserving my trades in the early part of the season. Holding Gawn and Neale all season, regardless of how much their prices drop.

Personally don’t think Heeney is worth sacrificing Gawn for. If you were trading a speculative pick then maybe, but Gawn is a premium and Heeney is speculative

If that’s the case, and you’re not confident in your rookie coverage for Dangerfield. Then I’d be just trading Dangerfield to your preferred FWD premium. And holding Gawn. Using only the one trade.

@Wingemi77

Aren't you better off just trading Danger - > Heeney ?

Keep Gawn and re-assess the ruck situation again next round , surely if Gawn goes 100+ people keep.

Their may actually be better options than Hickey/Martin depending on Round 2 ruck scores.

Fascinating to see what Danger scores on his return , "only" got 92 on the weekend , is he actually a must have forward like people think he is or can we wait until a few games after he returns to see the forward/Mid split.

The other thing on this @Wingemi77

2019, I traded Gawn to Reilly O’Brien when he was a rookie ruck on the bubble and used the money to bring Heeney in. It didn’t work for me then so it’s hard for me to advocate it for you now😂 However I think if I had better spent the money on a more premium premium that shifting the cash may have be more beneficial to my outcome

You posted this before the season too which convinced be but I preferred my structure without him until week 1. I'm glad Dangerfield got suspended because it gives me a chance to "fix" it.

Danger will be a must have in the Fwd line as there are so few premium options this year.

Hmmm, maybe I will just sit tight and take a look at it after round 2. Scary to be without Gawn.
Thanks to all you guys for your input.

Danger, Dunckley, Ziebell, B Campbell, Rowe, A Scott - Bench H Jones and Brockman.
Unfortunately no Mid/Fwd link created at the start.
Don’t see a great problem with your forward line. Pretty standard, good thing is you have Ziebell as your midpricer and Scott seems OK to run at F6 for the time being.
I think Dusty is probably the sensible upgrade, but if you wanted to get creative I think there are some midpriced options that could be worth pursuing, it’s just you may want another week or 2 to get the data that they are decent picks. To me Dusty seems safe because you probably need to move this week to avoid Jones or Brockman hitting your field.
