Oh God... Teague in the presser saying "I thought Cripps looked good as a forward"...

Final nail fired.

Guy just looks like he has no idea to be honest.
What? Cripps forward mostly looked like he was there because he was cooked. A few times in the 3rd quarter It seemed like he could hardly move. Got absolutely towelled up by the smaller Quaynor on the ground and in the air a few times too.

What the hell???? Doubt I have seen an A grade midfielder look worse when playing forward tbh

Providing no injuries or suspensions, moving Cripps on next week - I hate sideways trading with a passion but these new rules & his coach have deemed it necessary unfortunately.
I reckon Matt Priddis would've just about been a more dangerous forward than Cripps was tonight. Tom Rockliff's never been much of an athlete but he's got 100x the forward smarts of Cripps. Maybe coaches should just pretend he's 187cm like Oliver, that extra height really doesn't mean a huge amount for Cripps the way he plays.

Fremantle will unveil a second debutant in 2021 when Heath Chapman runs out for Freo against GWS at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

Chapman was told the news by senior coach Justin Longmuir during Thursday’s team meeting before training.

The 19-year-old was drafted by Fremantle in the first round of the 2020 NAB AFL National draft at no.14.

Chapman can seriously play, impressive kid - shame he is debuting so early as would of been a great downgrade target.
So why didn't he play Round 1 then ?

Was he in the mix for selection or is now getting a opportunity because of the injuries ?

EDIT

I think he was a Emergency but didn't travel , think I saw his name in the practice match notes.

People need to start taking community series form more seriously.

Cripps looked average against the Saints and was spending too much time up forward. That has continued into the H&A season.
Whilst I agree, if you watched him in the other streamed preseason game against the Bombers you'd be forgiven for thinking he would go 115+ this year.

Was genuinely in the mix for round one to be fair. Would've worked his way into the side before too long injuries aside I suspect.

Somewhat a shame he is debuting as early from a SC perspective, however as close follower of the draftees through the underage stuff I'm looking forward to seeing him get his chance, and also keen as an owner of him in one of my keeper leagues.

As @Shannon said, the kid can play.

All these kids can play though , hence why they get drafted 😉

Just need to do a hell of a lot right to now prove themselves at this level.

I just find Round 2 Debutants thoroughly annoying for SC purposes , just wish the coaches would pick them for Round 1 to begin with.

Yes, however what about someone like Dom Tyson who scored a big 100 in the preseason game then scored 29 round 1?

In that game v saints Harry McKay went off early & I think some other blues had slight injuries also so it could be viewed that Cripps went forward as were short on options.

Everything is easier in hindsight.

Think Clark is a good show to ton up tomorrow night
Expecting a solid Stewart 100 as per always

Not owning Neale is going to kill me tomorrow night. I think he goes 140+ vs that midfield even at the cattery

Fair point - I think after the 2020 Cripps had though he really needed to reassure us with a strong showing in both games.

It also felt like Game 1 of the preseason was a bit less serious than the televised “dress rehearsal for Round 1” games.
