Which of Neale and Cripps would you trade out if only one had to go?
Although he’s dearer and scoring worse, I reckon I’d have to keep Neale over Cripps. Trading Neale would purely be to save cash in my view, whereas it’s possible Cripps isn’t actually at keeper level, especially if he is carrying something.

FWIW I am keeping Cripps and don’t own Neale. I’m happy to risk losing a bit more cash to see if Cripps comes good.

This is the other poor umpiring decision which has been overlooked due to the final seconds howler. Not sure why there was 50m there 🤨
If that is the one I'm thinking of, rather than letting him up, he pushed down on his back slightly? Didn't like it, compared to what wasn't paid all night, but it probably was legit.

There's been a pretty consistent policy for a while of throwing a 50m penalty at situations where the see a player who has given away a free kick decides to "go on with it" a little while the opposition player is still defenceless on the ground. Zorko was a dumbass in that moment and should know better as one of the leaders at the club to be honest and I'm pretty sure Fagan will have words with him around that in his match review.

He was pushing things a bit far as well later on with his dumb "I'm just pretend to have a cramp and stretch my calf for 10-15 seconds right on top of the ball while our defenders get set" rubbish at one point and was lucky the umpire was passive enough to just let it happen.

I was actually considering Zorko as a fwd premo, but after tonight's effort I kinda feel like he'll just keep bleeding bunches of points doing dumb **** out on the ground going forward to be comfortable with committing to him as a potential top 8-10 forward.

Probably more a case of us all hoping he'll be better for the run and at least crank out some 90+ scores to minimise the bleeding while the other premos jostle for position in our pecking orders.

I've got some thinking to do tomorrow now around trades for the next 2-3 weeks (including this week), given that Neale will now almost certainly be an upgrade target far sooner than expected (maybe even not planned for at all), with a couple of BE's in the 200's on coming up.

I'd like to congratulate the throwlong Cats on their successful code switch. They'd be an appropriate counterpart to the Storm. Disgraceful match. An old, mind numbingly boring side going down with no dignity whatsoever. Selwood doing what he does, goals from offloads, no double 50 on Hawkins, no holding the ball in the last minute. Contrast that with Bews getting one his way for what I thought looked a lot like a sling tackle- which, incidentally, is the inevitable result of allowing players to hold it in for ages or throw it away. Of course the Lions did kick themselves out of it too, but allow me my rage.

Anyway, I'm a less than stellar 6/499 from Cripps, Walsh, Neale, Clark, Bailey and Daniher.
Neale- clearly underdone. Congrats to those who avoided him.
Bailey- star, I'd like him to up his possession count more often but there aren't many non KPPs who can score 97 from 16 touches and no goals. Would've been 115ish if the game was umpired to the standard of any local footy match.
Daniher- almost game, a 73 against Geelong isn't the end of the world though.
Sharp- definitely overawed in a big game away from home. Probably gets a rest now, at least I had him on the bench.
Clark- too much pressure for him in this one even in Geelong's snoozefest of a gameplan. He's got some skills, pretty weak when it counts though. Might be on the outer if he plays like that again, that is if Scott doesn't drop him straight away.
Speaking of weak, Gary Rohan and Gryan Miers :censored:

Neutral supporter here but Lions were screwed over by bad decisions in the last 10 minutes.. I just get mad every time I see Selwood get another high free kick but sadly that wasn’t even the worst of it

Yeah, I saw the “cramp” thing and thought it was a pretty obvious delay tactic. Fair point re the 50, but I still think it’s a bit rough and had too much influence on the result. Free kick, but I don’t like the 50 in that instance.

Wow we saw two different games!
And only just home from the game so have seen none of the after match stuff, but it was possibly the worst umpiring I've ever seen.
How many free kicks did the lions get in or near theiir 50?
If hipwood had kicked straight from his charity frees you'd have won!
But that's not how the afl works!
Just keep it close for the ratings guys!

got a dilemma on my hands

i have grundy vc, and only donut is fyfe in defence, but i have sharp 20 as emergency

so i could take grundy vc and clark 20 which is kind of poor

or i could captain macrae or gawn and then play kositzke instead of sharp
So I guess the question restated is:

Do we think
Gawn + Kosi
or
Macra + Kosi
is better than banking 155?

To be honest, I think either of those options is better than banking the 155.

Look, only Chris Scott and the most one eyed Geelong fans would agree with you there. Even Gerard Whately's outraged!
Oh and I should note that none other than Joel Selwood got more frees than Hipwood. Curious.
