Is Callum Mills likely to remain in Sydney's first choice for centre bounces this year? Just noticed he rarely attended a centre bounce last year.
Yes. I promise I'm not the one who assassinated Horse if he's not there all year and for the next decade!

Did anybody have some thoughts on Hayden Young? Considering my structural options and he is in the frame for an early trade. Interested to understand his role and whether it's likely to be permanent for the first half of season.
Will be a permanent role probably for the next 15 years! Kid is a stud, elite kick and showed some serious intercept marking ability on the weekend. Would imagine with Ryan looking somewhat rotund right now and the KPD injuries he's only going to increase that responsibility.

Only thing working against him is his age but top 10 picks on half backs are rare so he's clearly an elite talent and he already defends well above his years. The area most young defenders do struggle with is balancing defense and attack and that's his next step, he needs to do more offensively still but if he does his SC potential goes to the moon with his skillset.

There's definitely the potential he could push mid 90s, realistically I think he's probably in the mid 80s with the way defenders are scoring through the preseason and round 1, I'd have normally said high 70s but bumping a few for that factor and his class.

For comparison Docherty in his second year was a 77 and Mills a 73, Ridley was his 3rd year last year, Doch in his third year was 88. Those are the names I think he compares favourably to, he has less responsibility than Ridley did last year but not far off Doch back then.

In short, I like him a lot.

So what do we think of Doch? I'm worried he looks more like an organiser back there, with Saad and Newnes distributing. Any chance 95 becomes his ceiling rather than his average?
I think he's finished as a def must have. Short and co appear to have gone past him. Barring any carnage this weekend, Doch will be my first corrective trade.

Definitely imo. I watched a lot of him late last year as a I had bets on him for disposals. Towards the end of the year he started entering the centre bounces a lot more.

Deadset gun and likely to end the year as a top 3 defender imo (Lloyd, Laird, Mills)

Ridley will be the number one ranked SC defender for season 2021.

You heard it here first.
That would be great!

Just watched a quick replay. Pretty sure Ridley took 10/11 kick ins and almost certain he played on in all (there's a chance one of them didn't count as play on). Also unsure of the 8th one as kayo didn't show who kicked it but Ridley was around the goal square at the time so just gonna assume it was him. Redman took the other 1 and was terrible, kicking it straight to the port player.

I have him but I'm really now not sure if he's top 6 D by seasons end. Guys like Ridley et al have the intercept marking thing going on that likely put them a tier above Daniel.
I watched the game and he just wasn’t his usual self. He usually uses the ball so well and is a great decision maker.

It’s highly unlikely that any of us will end up with all of the top 6 defenders but I think there’s a decent chance that Daniel is a top 10 defender which is more than fine.

Is big Dougs Howard a legitimate option? Keeping in mind that DEF is probably the strongest line of all so we don't want to compromise on quality.
I'm in the same boat. Worth consideration as he looks like he's benefiting from a role change. Question for me which I don't have an answer for yet is whether the role is at risk when injured players come back.

Can't see anyone on their injury list taking over his kick-in duties, which provides a very solid floor to his scoring. His ceiling from week to week will be based around his intercepts.
