Really struggling with trades at the moment. I'm leaning toward trading Fyfe to Ridley and swinging A.Fyfe to mid. that will really shore up my backline and allow me to trade up Jones to Campbell who is the only must have rookie I appear to be missing. I know Fyfe may only miss a week but you never know with concussion and his injury history. Otherwise I can hold trades or be tempted to trade neale.

Currently $49,700 in the bank.

LAIRD, DANIEL, STEWART, SHORT, Kosi, Highmore (Sharp, A.Fyfe)

NEALE, OLIVER, MACRAE, FYFE, TARANTO, Powell, Gulden, Jordan (Berry, Brockman, McNeil)

GAWN, GRUNDY (Flynn)

DUNKLEY, DUSTY. Zeibell, Warner, Scott, Rowe (Fullarton, Jones)
TBH i cant see an issue with those two trades, you are moving a premo to DEF and shoring up your FWDS with Campbell. Sure in a perfect world you keep Fyfe, but moving to reduce dud rookie scores on field is a good move. Also Fullarton may be a decent scorer as well this round with OMac out. Barring selection disasters, go for it! (edit: Herbies second option looks good too.)

Daniher is a player that spikes and only needs one high scoring game to pay off. Willing to risk slow burn as worst case scenario.
I liked Daniher as a rookie that could be the first upgrade in Round 5 since he started at a higher pricepoint, but it looks like basement price rookies are going to overtake him in price comfortably early now. Therefore I just don't see the point of him?

100-130k is the price you want to pay for a KPF that *might* spike one high scoring game (ie. Kosi, Fullarton, Harrison Jones). Not 230k.

I mean Daniher kicked 3 goals against GC in the community series and could only manage a 63? What a slog...

Cripps > Tex
Taranto > Oliver
40k in the bank

Vs

Cripps > Tex
Fullarton > Impey
159k in the bank - can potentially do Taranto to Titch the following week

Jack Bowes, anyone reckon he is a top 8 defender this season? 5th year, former top 10 pick, playing perfect role for SC this year, taking most of the kick ins, good age for a breakout, excellent kick on him, the ball will still be in the GC backline a fair bit and in the previous year scored 90+ in 8/17 games he played although never going above 21 disposals in a game (shortened games notwithstanding). He has already had two games of 30 and 31 disposals this season.

Natural progression and new rules, can he take his game to a premo defender level this season or is it early season spike? From the eye he looks like a perfect SC defender this season and against West Coast it was like watching Lloyd. Haven't made any trades and can't afford Taranto to Ridley which would have been my preferred trade this week (also need to get Jordon in) and Bowes is looking very tempting as a straight swap for a speculative starting pick that doesn't look like he'll work out.
@NT.Thunder - discussed here by @AngryAnt, good analysis (y)

You have to remember that this is a game of scoring points and not of making money. They may make the same amount of money in the end but if Tex can make it 5 rounds earlier than Daniher and you can upgrade to a premo 5 rounds earlier then you could be getting an extra 40-50 points for those 5 rounds.

It's obviously more complicated than that but hopefully you get my point.
Good point, i picked Heppell as a stepping stone, he is already delayed that by 1 week, plus his scores aren't close to what Tex has put up. I'm going to roll the dice on the quick cash and hopefully complete the 'step' a few weeks faster.

Not with the 143 in Tex's rolling average of course :)
If it was afl fantasy that 143 in his rolling average would be huge. But it's not so that sort of reactive trading tends to ultimately go nowhere. I guess I'm a little confused at the point of getting trigger happy on these 200k types after two games because their scoring hasn't been quite up to scratch after two rounds. If their scoring's been disastrous, role isn't as expected, a downgrade to a good rookie yields necessary cash for a correction elsewhere, fine. Otherwise you have to consider why you even picked them in the first place.

Been thinking alot and i reckon
@Herbie66 has the best idea for what to do for this round, Caldwell and Rowell out for Jordon and Ridley. It makes the most sense since Ridely is basically their main Defender and a downtrade to Jordon gives me extra cash for someone else in the future as well as him being a cash cow
And then deal with next week when we get to it.
Now to wait 24hrs until round 1 begins...

We literally had 1 community series game to base our decisions on this year.

Daniher seemed the best of a bad bunch at that pricepoint with the lack of rookies in the pre-Jordon/Berry/Warner era.
Now with 2 rounds out the way, we understand that Daniher isn't that essential and there are better options available.
His team also doesn't look as good as we thought they were.

I have no issue making the switch now we have a bit more information.

Will keep Neale. After listening to Rowsus, it's a marginal call either way , but I think Neale can overcome potential tags (like he did last year) and average 110+ from here on.
He has been dissapointing, but he has still had some big scoring quarters .
8 touches and 4 clearances on the weekend in a red hot last quarter, not sure hes as injured as people are making out just needs to work through the tag.

I'll actually be interested to see what @NT.Thunder thinks, he's pretty good at this game.
I wish, still trying to crack the formula....

Bowes has me interested, I must admit I'm only looking at numbers and heat maps as I rarely watch GCS games. I'm trying to work out if he appeals to me through progression and role or whether it's something my mind is telling me I want to see.

I'm strongly considering a stupid cash grab this week and going something like Doch & Sharp/Scott (whoever gets dropped) to Tex & Atkins/Cumming. Prefer Atkins but don't hate Cumming.

I've watched both Carlton games and I'm not confident Doch can keep up with the top 8 defenders who could easily go 10-15 points better than him again.

I went Danger to Titch last week but I've got all the important rookies so feel like I can use a couple trades to try get an advantage over the pack.

I'm in the same boat. If I procrastinate enough I'll save myself having to make any decision. 🙄
