That's still a solid bank Herbie and not a whole lot of a different side to what I've got and am "reasonably" happy with ahaha (5 defs to my 4; 6 mids each; 3 fwds to my 2; but I have Gawn over Meek).

You've only got 7 upgrades to do for team "completion" and 19 trades to do it. The bank buys you one, maybe 2 of those (if you go 'value') leaving you perhaps 5 upgrades from 17 trades. Flynn + Meek is Premium Ruck + Rookie (eventually) so really it's only 4 upgrades from 15 trades. Easy!

As you said, the coin for those upgrades could be a little harder to find but there will still be cash generating options cropping up throughout the rest of the season to net $100k por trade, just might have to think a bit laterally about it.

Sideways trade of Ziebell in a few weeks anyone?:p
Can't dwell on the past rounds so just trying to fix/improve what I can.

Just trying to create a bit of a trade road map for myself.

Current Bank should allow me :-

Warner - > Heeney
Rowe - > Jake Kelly / May / McEvoy

with $$$ left over to go towards the next upgrade.

Marshall & Mitchell on the watch list.

Secretly hoping Meek returns , so Meek down Flynn up (doubt it will be Gawn so ???)

Then means upgrades for :

D6

Powell & JordOn (hopefully get to at least $ 375k each , always seems to be fallen premiums around Bye time)

Fantasia

At this stage I hope I can get $ 100k minimum from Berry , McNeil & McCreery.

So yep easy 😀

Just need to realise I won't have 22 ultra premiums so need to be realistic and adjust my thinking and acept I need 2-4 "value" selections.

Actually, maybe have another look at this week's trades...

Hold Dunkley for an extra week and then go:
Gulden -> Grundy and Meek -> Whoever instead.

It may seem a bit backwards to hold Dunkley but I don't think Meek is playing again any time soon and Flynn could get dropped seemingly on a whim. Doing this setup means you can bring in a ruck to cover Flynn with a single trade later on rather than having to burn 2 in a week when there will surely be other issues to solve.

Don't know how the logic stacks up but it seems like it's the 'insurance' play to buffer against further disaster? You could even trade Dunkley to Gawn the week after if you can stomach the eye-watering price.
I actually went through the exercise last night of trying to get both Gawn & Grundy but it left me way to exposed onfield and not enough $$$ to fix up other areas.

As soon as I trade Meek out I am sure he returns , can't see them playing Treacy much more , watched him against the Crows and he was very limited in what he offered , although I guess the Taberner & Lobb combination has worked in the past for them.

Not sure how long Darcy stays together given his history.

Thilthorpe could be a option at R3 if Marshall still looks a viable option (with Ryder back this week).

The other option I am considering is getting McEvoy (yep I am scraping the barrel) and setting up the D/R link.

Thanks for the suggestion though , I will have another play around with numbers and options.

At the moment I'll be going Dunkley & Neale > Zorko & J.Macrae.

If Flynn doesn't get named I might end up having to go Neale > F.Macrae and Meek > Gawn.

Got me curious now 😀

Gulden - > Grundy via Zorko & Fullarton
Meek - > F Macrae via Fullarton

gives me $ 267,700.00 in the Bank

Rookies onfield

D6
Powell , JordOn
Flynn
Warner , Fantasia , Rowe

Round 8

Dunkley - > Gawn via Fullarton moves Flynn to R3

probably gives me $ 145k in the Bank

Rookies onfield

D6
Powell , JordOn
Warner , Fantasia , Rowe , Macrae/McCreery

Can upgrade 1 of Warner / Rowe to Heeney but am I then too exposed with 3 rookies onfield in the forwards (Martin & Zorko are in my mids)

Obviously have Gawn & Grundy for the rest of the season (Flynn now at R3)

Just a matter of my bench can raise enough $$$ to fund the rest of the upgrades

EDIT possibly Farrar and Atu Bos...... are potentially better alternatives than Macrae

Team is decimated. Like many here, it's just getting too hard. May throw caution to the wind and bring in Hawkins for Dunks at probably his lowest price and hope he kicks a few bags. I think he goes ok normally against the Swans. Other trade I should bring in Macrae for Neale.

Edit: just remembered Jezza is playing, so maybe Hawkins not a great idea.

Chapman to Robertson (doughnut Fyfe to DEF) and Dunks to Walsh or Petracca.

I would probably hold off on him right now. Hasn't fully bottomed out just yet and might still be bothered with that sore paw. I'd probably go an Impey, Atkins or Hind type for similar coin if you don't already own them. Then maybe look at grabbing Heeney in a couple of weeks when he could be close to $350K. :)
I love the suggestion. I've currently got JZ, Impey and Atkins who could all very well be fwd keepers in this crazy season. I definitely want to leave a spot for Dusty and probably Danger too. If I grab Hind I just worry I'm sacrificing quality in Heeney/Zorko. I doubt I'll have the luxury trades to turn Atkins into one of those guys later on.

I wouldn't have too much FOMO on the Heeney front. < @Herbie66 don't read this part but he is a perpetual accident waiting to happen. > :p

Zorko could be a real beneficiary in terms of CBAs and general on-ball time with Neale missing games so I'm definitely interested there and was kind of kissed bringing him into my RDT side last week. If he can clean up his stupid frees against and clanger count he will be an even better fantasy scorer.

But if you really want Heeney he is fairly cheap already and can score quite nicely WHEN fit and firing, even playing predominantly forward. I'm certainly not going to argue with the 5th ranked coach for the round. You should be giving the rest of us advice this week not the other way around.

I've played what feels very cookie cutter up until now but I'm seriously considering a good old fashioned punt this weekend.

With Dunkley and a (almost certainly Swans) rookie out I have a very large field available to me to try and pluck a POD from. If we assume I use Gulden then I have 1.028m to spend. Had a look through the top averages and there's lots to like...

Cookie cutter options: T Mitchell, Lloyd, Petracca, Walsh, Sidebottom (already have J Macrae, Oliver, Merrett)
Diving a little deeper: Heppell, Parish, Guthrie, Duncan, McCluggage, Hind
Proper PODs: Keays, Liberatore, Dale, Greene???

Dunkley being a forced out just opens up so many options that this round feels super pivotal. Mostly though this is just my Ben Keays appreciation post since I really want to pick him but will probably chicken out of it.

Looking at Dunkley and Gulden to Guthrie and Dev Robertson.

Happy to be told this is a rubbish trade!
Btw anyone else trade out Henney when the club said he'd be out for 4 to 5 weeks?

I don't think it's rubbish.

Reckon Gutherie is a 120 ave player without Danger and 100 player without. If Danger misses 6 more, even he plays every game afterwards, based on some mental math Gutherie is expected to average 108 from here, which makes him an acceptable pick.

The upside only increases if Danger misses more than 6 (he's currently listed as 6-10). There are better options at that price however, with Bont and Oliver being the clear standouts to me.

Where’s the love for Duncan? Proven scorer, priced similarly

I'm looking at going Gulden to Robertson. It allows me to pivot Dusty to the mid bench and avoid a donut. Robertson is also DPP as well which I didn't notice at first.

Sure, he's 100k more than Fin Macrae but I like his chances of scoring 70s as much as FMac scoring 50s and I know which scores look better on field :p.
Its more the 100k in the bank that makes me want Macrae over Robertson, gets you a long way to the next upgrade.

I still think Hawkins kicks bags, Cameron is playing up the ground.
