I think I need a bit of help with my trades this week which for the moment are...

Dunkley > RO'B
Gulden > Farrar

Leaves me 273k to upgrade Flynn > Marshall next week with 1 trade. Leaving 18 trades to upgrade 7 possies.

I could bring in Grundy instead of RO'B but that would require an extra trade next week to get Marshall.

This is my team and I would really appreciate some ideas as I'm going backwards at a huge rate of knots.

Don't mind the ROB pick and actually have him him in RDT where he is considerably cheaper than Grundy. But in Supercoach I'd probably pay up for Grundy especially with his immediate fixtures where he could post some monster scores.

Frederick is looking like a good downgrade option in defence next week so that should give you the extra coin to get Flynn to either Marshall or even ROB next week along with your remaining bank. I have some concerns over Marshall such as whether he is fully over that foot issue and also how he will perform sharing the ruck with Ryder.

I know he did well last year sharing the ruck with Paddy but if the Saints are going to keep producing non competitive efforts on a semi regular basis then that may not bode well for Saints players scoring well this season. Even Steele has struggled to produce uber premium numbers the past two weeks.

Hopefully Cameron doesn't recall Mummy this week and Flynn can earn another cash increase or two for us.

Have you considered :-

Dunkley - > Nankervis
Gulden - > Brayshaw

Does that then allow you :-

Rowe - > May next round via DPP

Sinclair , Phillips , Thilthorpe could be possible ruck (short term) options depending on their score next round , Zac Smith possibly playing next round as well.

While we are on the topic of Nelson, do you remember if he went to Sidebottom when we played?

He did spend some time on Sidebottom but not a hard tag as such.

Not great with his disposal and interrupted preseasons this year have been significant with regards to injuries. With forward scarcity he’s not the worst option and Buckley seems determined not to play the kids in the guts. Risk outweighs reward imo

Hey All

Longtime listener, first time caller. There's some great inputs on this site, and wanted to it's been really helpful just browsing through and soaking up peoples thoughts.

My question:
I've got the Dunkley out thing this week too. But am thinking of using my other trade to sort out my Def for the season.
Have got Ridley, Stewart, Laird, Short, Jiath and Chapman (1-6) as it stands. Seeing Chapman's BE go up I'm thinking of upgrading Chapman to a D5.
Options look like one of: Mills - Seems the obvious choice, but has burnt me in previous years, you see him as a definite Premo now?
Lloyd - Has the pedigree but is 50k more
Salem - Has runs on the board this year and is the cheapest on a performance/cost basis. Can he keep it up?
Daniel - Has been awful, but is cheap, and was rightly considered a premo at the start of the season, Can he turn it around?

Who'd you plump for?

With the first trade I will probably be doing Gulden to Robertson (think i'll pay the extra 100k instead of F.Macrae who looks shaky).
I have Dunkley, Martin & Hickey all inj. I was hoping to trade Dunkley to Oliver this week, but with Hickey still on my bench inj and Grundy's b/e of only 96, it's now or never for Grundy, he will surely go massive v the Suns this week, so the 2nd trade will be HIckey to Grundy and hopefully Flynn continues to make $$$ on the bench.

Next week i will do Dunkley to Oliver most likely and probably the best bubble rookie to bring in with 2nd trade if i use it. Dunkley & Martin will have to stay on the bench this week. Just hoping Rowe doesn't get dropped or i'll be copping a donut in the fwd line. It would be nice if Highmore gets a run this week also, so i can loop he & Mansell but not holding my breath on that happening.

Injuries been a disaster this year. Howe & Ridley last week, my team is becoming a train wreck these last few weeks like alot of other teams.

Thanks for that info Iron; guessing they had Witts though or another decent ruck in those previous encounters. They have noone of note now plus that b/e is just too low and i already have Gawn so i need to get Grundy in now. Appreciate the info though.

Usually yes, unless the opposition is good at setting up to shark hit outs. I know some rucks struggle against various teams for that reason, pretty sure Grundy's previous low scores against the Suns are more so due to Witts rather than the rest of their mid field, yeah.

Have two trade options in mind for Rd 7 but it is doing my head in regarding if one is better than the other. Any advice would be appreciated.

Option 1 is vanilla trade of Neale to Steele (or Oliver) and Dunkley to Zorko (or Greene/Marshall). Team would then look like below. Then week after cash cow (Gulden?) to rookie and use the cash to upgrade Flynn (now $300k ish) to Grundy. Cash should not be an issue to do this.


Or…..I prefer Grundy in this week. So Neale becomes Grundy and Dunkley becomes Marshall. Team now looks like below. And the week after again Gulden out cash plus Flynn (Treacey to R3) becomes the mid premium (Oliver/Steele).



I prefer the Grundy trade as he will cost more if I wait and he can go big against GC without Witts who he has been going head to head with over the last few seasons. Someone twist my arm with a good reason to go one way or the other!

Suns are actually one of the top clearance teams and have a very good contested midfield group, while the Pies are one of the worst in the league and I dare say if you removed Grundy himself would be very close to the worst.

I always found the easiest thing to rove to was a dominant ruckman, if it was your guy that was an added bonus but the most difficult thing to rove to is when you have to read who is going to win the tap first.

Not a lot to double down to, which is a problem in itself.

I actually really like as many as 5 of the options this week with Highmore, Macrae, Farrar, Bosenvulagi and Robertson. I'd actually make the case this is comfortably the strongest group of downgrade targets that we've had and would maybe go further to say that it might be the best group we get all season. To be fair you could say that Chapman has been the only decent downgrade target so far with Robertson looking likely to join him from last week.

Could you get Grundy and Zorko this week? Then target one of Oliver/Marshall next week? Your midfield is already 5 premo deep. Would be better to field Powell, Jordon & loop Gulden/Berry(if he plays). Oliver & Marshall with higher B/E's so could be available cheaper next week. I know Oliver plays North but he shouldn't rise too much even if he smashes North.
