Quick Thoughts - Demons vs Kangas
General - Only one team showed up in the first half and then that team ran out of petrol tickets in the 2nd and were overwhelmed. Actually a pretty decent game and North were super competitive. They're severely lacking in talent but they do give it a real shout.
Roos - Another honourable loss for them, it's clear they're a young team that lacks fitness with the way they finish games, they were more than in it when they could run and then just ran out of steam entirely. Tried hard though.
Hall - He's trying to outgull the Ziegull, he's definitely an issue for Ziebell but also could take any potential attention away and there's enough supply to go around.
Cunnington - Monster game, ran out of steam a bit like the rest of them but he was the best player on the field by a fair margin.
Simpkin - Better game by him.
Turner - Did a good job on Oliver in the first but was so good going after it he dropped the tag and just went his own way.
Powell - Beast of an effort, has basically ruined my season that I convinced myself to get Dow instead of him... Another consequence of the epic decision to start Cripps...
Ziebell - Same old from him.
Stephenson - Good work rate and gave it a great effort. Been pretty damn solid for North, for a guy you got paid to take that's a great result.
Phillips - Solid game from him, building.
Bosenvulagi - Was really solid again. Will continue to grow into the role.
Young - It felt like he was more involved than his score suggests.
Demons - Terrible first half, no effort and no pressure and not a lot of skill either. Showed up at HT and took care of business, really that's what good teams do though, when you play bad you stay in it and then you eek out the win.
Langdon - The poster boy for all the butchers out there that you can fix your kicking, his improvement at Melbourne is actually absurd to the point of being a genuinely good kick.
May - Waxed hard after a slow start (better in SC than game) but then got really involved as the Kangas tired and Melbourne started to actually retain possession. His SC feels very generous though.
Salem - Like May, waxed hard once the game was winding down but also a big part in the 3rd and 4th of them getting home.
Petracca - One of those ratios that I didn't notice, it didn't feel like he did anything wrong, really the harshest thing you could say was he didn't junk up in comparison to the other Demons who scored outstandingly. I thought he was solid, did go forward a bit more after the Tomlinson injury pushed McDonald back but expect that to be fixed next week with either Petty or Weideman in.
Oliver - Kind of the opposite of Petracca, I didn't notice anything to justify his ratio except that he did junk with a huge last quarter when the game was done and dusted. You take that if you've got him and just keep walking
Jordon - Great game, also got into some junk time fun and was rewarded heavily for it, just a weird game where junk time was disproportionately rewarded. Take it!
Jackson - He was really good.
Pickett - Ditto. His ratio felt very fair.
Gawn - Just a terrible game, what a debut for the Shack... If only Flynn could have played this week for me. He had about 10 dropped marks today and it could have been an entirely different game if he gloved even half of those. That pain when the golden ticket points run out the week you bring them in
Lever - Solid but got lost being a bit more accountable for a while after the Tomlinson injury and then didn't get in on the waxing with the other backs late.
