Have you thought about a double down then, Tex and Chapman for Freddy/Thilthorpe. Thilthorpe will allow you to get rid of Flynn with one trade in future and also a very sizeable bank for coming weeks, along with some ruck cover. Also adds to the value of Marshall if he's on your horizon as it will open up RUC DPP cover. Tex's run looks to me to be basically over, time to cut bait and cash him in.
Walker goes to a premium at this point, big step backwards downgrading him IMHO, Dusty next week the likely scenario but we'll see hes only had one bad week at the end of the day, rookies off field still the main focus.

Team now is :-

STEWART , RIDLEY , LLOYD , MAY , DANIEL , Mansell / Highmore , Jones

MACRAE , BOAK , MERRETT , LAIRD * , ZORKO * , CRIPPS , Powell , JordOn / Berry , McNeil , Fyfe *

O'BRIEN , MUMFORD / Flynn

ZIEBELL , D MARTIN * , IMPEY , STRINGER , Warner , McCreery / Rowe , Fullarton *

Hopefully can get at least $ 100k each out of Berry , McNeil & Rowe when I downgrade them.

That money will then be used to upgrade Powell , JordOn & Warner (hoping they all get close to $ 375+ each)

Flynn's money will upgrade Mumford

D6 - no idea
McCreery to de Goey with change 😀 or Heeney

that's the plan , baby steps
Canned my Stringer idea (still think he can work at his price , but de Goey/Heeney are probably going to be cheaper again and do a similar job)

Gulden - > May via Laird
Fantasia - > Brayshaw via Zorko

Wanted Brayshaw last round , before I was facing a ruck donut again so will get him a round late.

Will still need to milk Berry , McNeil & Rowe for every $ before downgrading and upgrading Powell , JordOn & Warner (probably to Marshall).

McCreery - > de Goey/Heeney
D6 - > no idea

What the hell do I even do this week? Definitely has a minimise the damage feel to it. ****ing Ryan.

So Chapman to Frederick. And leave it at that. Back Mansell to give you a decent score in place of the Ryan injury.

Or...could also make a second trade which is Rowe to RCD (go a week early) via Scott. This will also give you loophole options in the mids and fwds to take good rookies scores.

Then analyse how the premos go this round and aim for a double upgrade next round that will suit your BYE structure. Would have 430k+ cash to make it happen.

Is it worth going Ryan to May to save a donut plus make $130k in the process or just take the hit and upgrade around him?

Struggling with this decision this week.
It probably comes down to trades used and team make up, but I don't love it.

I think this year more than any the impact of a donut is not as significant, not only given the frequent injuries but also the new concussion protocol and the fact most teams have a 22nd (and in some cases 21st) player that is only scoring 30-40 points. Avoiding a donut is still great but I just wouldn't do anything drastic to your team just to avoid one. You'll save more points getting your worst rookies off the field first - and probably make (or avoid losing) more cash.

The case for doing this is if you think Ryan will miss more than one more week, or you think he'll be impacted from missing these weeks (potentially a reinjury). If you think 1 could turn into 3 then there could be merit - particularly if you can spend the 130k on a useful upgrade.

Few things to keep in mind...
1. Freo took Ryan on their east coast trip so they must expect him to play either of the next 2 games - otherwise they'd leave him home for a true rest/recovery period.
2. May is someone who can also miss games due to injury so there is a reasonable chance he'll create some future headaches.

As I said, I don't love it but there is a case to be made based on the above - good luck whichever way you go!

@Chumpion, thanks for your considered response. Some excellent points to ponder.

Ryan flew with the team Id be surprised if he doesnt play next week, regardless you cant trade every 2-3 week soft tissue injury.

I don't love it, but structure wise it makes sense for me to go a week early on RCD...

Chapman and Rowe -> Frederick and RCD

Hopefully that'll satisfy me enough to stop me from tinkering until the byes!
Same trades for me. Don’t have the cash to go up and need to double downgrade this round. Need to raise cash for the byes and think Murphy will be a slow burn.
