Strategy Round 8: Trades

I’m thinking about...Franklin

In the $300s, on the bubble (should go up 100kish over next couple), it would be a trade out for Rowe and $430k is all that’s available.
Best case scenario is averages 90 and misses 2-3 more games for the year.

Following the rules isn’t helping me, maybe it’s time to try something different.

I love buddy and it is great to see he can still be relevant and play at this level.

But... known to have bad soft tissue injuries... so i wouldn't go near him

I guess with the forwards , their are a couple of "break glass" options available next round in Brown & de Goey both around $ 260k (hopefully score better than a Rowe type)

Possibly short term onfield options for a few rounds before getting them to F7.

Petty could also be a option.

Heeney & possibly Rozee soon to be under $ 300k as well.

Aaron Hall pumps out another big score and he has to become a serious option to consider.

So much variety on offer in the forward lines.

Here is my team as it stands. The simple move is Frederick in for Gulden via Laird to the mids.

Second trade is either:

a) Warner up to Zorko and leave Rowe on field (unless Farrar score is useable on bench)
b) Rowe up to Franklin; meaning Scott's score can be skipped if Farrar's score is useable
c) do nothing

Warner and Franklin over 5 weeks will produce a higher score and generate a lot more cash than Rowe and Zorko would be able to.

If I can get 420 from Franklin over 5 weeks then the trade is a success, as he'll increase in price over $100k, and Rowe + Zorko is probably worth 40 less points over the same period on my estimates.

I'm not yet convinced that this isn't a good move.

Another possible option (could be) :-

Campbell - > Collier-Dawkins
Gulden - > May (or Daniel) via Laird

Then next round

Rowe - > Poulter or Madden
Scott - > maybe Brown , de Goey , Heeney (fake premium)

not sure how much $$$ Scott is expecting to make

or sit and milk every $ you can from your playing rookies

That bench is going to create a lot of concern generating $$$

Or otherwise you are going to have to consider trading premiums out to try and generate $ 100k somehow

If degoey doesn't do something this week it'll never happen. Playing bottom team (though pies are 17th) , in the papers all week for poor defensive efforts, another week to recover from concussion..surely the penny drops at some point and he is an absolute steal at sub $300k

De Goey is probably the most over rated player of the last 10-15 years.

And getting paid $ 700k + a season regardless of his performance , so maybe he doesn't even care that much how he performs , just do enough to get his pay cheque each week attitude.

But if he drops below $ 300k he could be a viable option for many (myself included) who are struggling big time with cash generation this season.

I haven’t seen anyone saying Dusty is better than Leigh.

But to be fair...

haha I do marvel at the stuff Dusty can do. I actually think he was extremely lucky to win 2 normies... but that one last year... I gained a lot more respect for him in that game. He was amazing.

De Goey does some bloody special things some times, He's offensive talent and magic around goals is a bit like Cyril. Not the way they look... but the creating stuff out of small opportunities. But defensively - he's nothing like Cyril. Both players couldn't really run through the midfield due to tiny tank or soft injuries.

For one quarter once per year I reckon.

To be honest, Dusty only really turns it on a handful of times through the year... and then does it all the time to obliterate everyone in the finals.

I never rated dusty, until last year, now i would say he is easily top 5 current players and he is not 5th or 4th or 3rd or 2nd

Can't remember the commentators now (try not to listen to too many) but 2-3 weeks ago they were comparing Martin to Matthews and who was better.

Now I am trying to picture Lethal with arm and neck tattoos , he would look even scarier 😀

Think I'll pass on Frederick, and trade Chapman up rather than down.
I don't want 3 back rookies that are either not playing or shacky js.

I liked what I saw from Whitfield on the weekend, his fitness was no issue, great role going were ever he pleased and his team mates looked to give him the ball at every opportunity.
Think he was pretty unlucky with his SC score, had a few uncharacteristic clanger kicks in the first quarter that killed his score early on.
Even thou his b/e is quite high two scores of 110 won't see him drop much in cash.
