Not sure how long I can sustain non-playing rookies. Currently got Highmore, Sharp, Fullarton Flynn (to a degree) doing not much.

Sharp and Fullarton have some use do too adding DPP flexability, but Highmore looks like he might still be some way away.

Considering cutting my losses and trading Highmore to Fred. But the last time I did this it did not work so well with Kosi :cautious:

Anyone else considering this or is it just me?

I'm holding Highmore despite hell or High water. He's my Gould this year. (However, I got rid of Sharp earlier, but wish I had kept him for his DPP flexibility).

I have Jones, Sharp, Waterman.

I plan on holding Jones, as I reckon he'll be solid bench cover 2nd half of the year. The other 2 are no use to me, but they're on the bench at a time when I'm primed to trade on field rookies, so am not going to bother doing anything with them yet. Hopefully Waterman isn't far away, and one or both can get a look in through the byes.

The problem is identifying the trade down targets over the next little while. Frederick doesn't really suit my bye structure, or the structure of my team. But who else?

I am hopeful for Poulter next week, but not sure who else.

My bench is essentially :-

Highmore , Jones
Berry , McNeil , Fyfe
Flynn
Rowe , Fullarton

so will milk Berry & Rowe as long as possible (think they now are projecting to lose $$$ if they actually play) , hopefully McNeil returns soon.

Ideally need at least 1-2 more prices from Flynn (his profit then upgrades Mumford)

After that , have no idea to be honest , will probably just need to look at trading premiums to try and create $$$ somehow.

Still require 5 onfield rookie upgrades + have Cripps , Daniel & May.

Just will try and deal with it the best I can.

Same here. I'm wondering if I'll hold Chapman if he's not losing money until a better option comes up - I could do with his cash though.
Plenty of mid rookies need to go at the moment as well.
Not sure.

outside of waiting for Marshall to get cheap and pick him up thinking Ryder will miss some games....I literally have no idea what plans to have with the forward line....Butters could be an alright option post-bye if he looks alright following the injury and Danger after his...all are not going to be good to get for a while though....

Don't think I would trade Warner to get May - Warner's BE is 63 this week which is achievable, felt he was harshly scored on the weekend.

Really weakens your fwd line with Rowe at F5. You have Laird in your mids I notice so by taking May you would have 6 premium defenders already - the likes of Whitfield & Lloyd are dropping in price, might pay to be patient & wait.

Intend on keeping R Laird at M7 and selecting J Ridley to replace Kosi at D6 and Mitchell to replace Jordon at M8 hopefully before/around the byes, given my current rookie stock and poor cash generation coupled with the full allotment of trades used so far. The only way to afford keeping Warner is either grabbing Murray over Frederick or trading Flynn instead of Warner.

Coincidentally I just came up with the same elaborate scheme, except Murphy instead of May (don't have the cash to upgrade this week).

Too early to cull Warner? He's the only avenue I have to get May in this week. Will have Bergman and Scott at F5 and F6 wit Rowe and Waterman on the bench. Would prefer to get rid of Rowe and keep Warner but also think May is super value.

He's quite possibly gone next week for me as I'm still running 4 rookies on the field in the Fwds, have 5 premos in the backline. Trouble is that I don't get an underperforming rookie off the ground. (maybe Chapman > RCD is though)

Guess it comes down to your team make up.

I've currently got Warner and Bergman at F5 and F6 so my forward rookie situation isn't too bad, with Scott in the midfield I can get Warner out for May by going Laird to the mids from the back and Scott down to the forwards, it will mean Scott needs to play on field with Rowe and Waterman on the bench, then I'll only have Frederick at D6 and Powell and Jordon on field as the mids as my remaining on field rookies with Scott and Bergman in the fwds. I can live with Scott on field for now but he can easily throw out a 20. Warner was one I was planning to hold to his bye, his BE is still gettable and he's only gone below 60 once. I feel Warner still has a big game left in him and more cash generation, already have 5 defender premos, no Lloyd and no Whitfield so May complicates that situation as well. $407k players that can score 95ppg+ for the rest of the season don't come around often though.

I think if you are running with 4 forward rookies on field you probably need to keep Warner as he's the best one, the priority there would be to remove someone like Rowe, Jones or these types off the field first.

Me personally, if my team has a lot of non-playing Rookies, then I would definately trade out Chapman and use his cash, if not this week, then have a nice bank for the following week.
On the other hand, If you haven't got many non-playing Rookies, then you could wait.
One problem we are having is the lack of money for upgrades, using Chapman to get a money-generating Rookie is the way I would go.

I did some research a few years ago, and the conclusion (as I recall it) is that a lot of the very top, even winning, coaches don't trade until R3, then basically use every trade until just before the byes.

It's now what I "try" to do, while ensuring that every trade stacks up and is worth the cost.

With this said, there appears less uniformity in it than I might have expected, given we have a large number of very good coaches on this site, and I do see coaches holding trades.
