Dusty's injury this year does worry me. I don't own him and really want to see clear signs he's fully recovered from it to bring him in; its worth the extra cash I'll have to pay for him to wait. These foot issues apparently they get the OK to play on but are obviously still in some level of discomfort.

Also factoring in to this decision is I already have Houston and CGuthrie and I do not want to carry a third injury issue player.

I have Clug, love what he's done since I grabbed him but I'd be steering clear of him at top price with Neale and Berry due back very soon.

Left field option for mine is Parish. Lefter field is Libba. Touk also a very strong option and probably the safest.
Very annoyed that Libba is on the R13 bye as I'd picked him out weeks ago as the one getting all the benefit from Dunkley's absence but by then I was already overloaded!

I'm ditching Houston this week although I should have done it 2 weeks ago. Highmore getting picked 2 weeks ago changed my mind. Bloody Highmore's been nothing but trouble! 🙄 Hope he repays us.

Houston has dropped so much cash for me I'm just going to hold and hope he comes back with a better shoulder post-bye. I almost traded out Guthrie this week because of the experience with Houston but Guthrie's break even isn't that bad (yet).

I agree the cash loss is not ideal but I can't do an upgrade with the rookies I'm prepared to let go of and I'd like to keep improving my team. Must admit I don't completely understand the injury. What are the chances he comes good? I had Laird in the mids so it's easy for me to get rid of him. Best 18 would have been perfect for me this week.

From what I understand the injury is more around the sensitivity it causes to the shoulder rather than any risk of a deterioration to the area. The problem is if you're playing a physical game where every contest you go into you're worried about getting hurt that really does impact how you play the game. The pain can also become so over-whelming you can't continue, which is what has happened to Houston several times already, but this doesn't mean he's damaged his shoulder further. This is not to say he hasn't damaged his shoulder because he has, but its the sensitization of the injury that is the current issue. Generally over time this should get better if he doesn't damage the shoulder further.

It's really a pain management issue from what I understand: there's a whole segment of medical science that covers this, under the umbrella area of medicine called the bio-psycho-social theory of medicine. There's actually an Australian expert who is one of the very world leaders in this area: Professor Lorimer Mosley, he has some vids up on youtube aimed at a lay audience about it and they're worth the watch. His story about being a hitchhiker and getting picked up by a driver missing a limb and also his experience getting bitten by one of the world's most venomous snakes really illustrate his points. Worth the listen if this area piques anyone's interest.

Edit: Mosley has actually advised the Port Adelaide football club previously, as he worked out of the University of South Australia at some stage.

So he could come off his bye feeling good again and scoring like the player I thought I had started with?
Maybe this week is a hold and Professor Mosley could give me something for my pain.

TBH I'm just sort of hoping he comes good given its just a pain management thing. His price has just dropped so far for me that I'm just holding and hoping: his upside is really quite high if he comes good.

If you have chronic pain this area is well worth looking into. I had a back issue some years ago, which about 100% of people will have in their lifetimes, and having some understanding of this area helped me manage it to the extent I'm not now bothered by it at all.

Doesn anyone have any thoughts or opinions on Madden's job security? I like him as a trade in as i have Briggs as a def/fwd in my defence, having him in my fwd line would be handy for me, can swing his to defence where it's been a total disaster for me.

Appreciate any info/feedback, cheers and good luck to all.
Youd think its opposition dependent, they cant go with only Adams and Andrews against sides with a tall forward line and Madden is likely the one that slots out, Melbourne and Geelong after this week is a massive concern structurally and one of the main reasons I'm passing on him.

This is how I am prior to trading, basically 6 upgrades left with 13 trades so in a bit of trouble, advice on how best to go about it would be appreciated. Screenshot_20210524-191357_Chrome.jpg

Depending how that lines up with your byes, I would go Jiath/Warner to Weightman and Whitfield and bank $380k for upgrades throughout the byes - that money will be handy with 3 trades next week where you could bring in 2 midfielders for Jordon and Robbo.

I like this plan. Would be well set after the above moves, with cash in hand and Flynn ready to be culled for remaining upgrades. Trade count will finish low, but the team should look good.

Out - Jordon and Scott
In - Petracca and Treacy

Bypassing Madden for two reasons. I can't afford Trac if I get him who is my ideal upgrade target this week. And I think his JS is wildly unknown. Treacy will slide into the ruck bench for me when I move Flynn eventually. Not expecting much from him other than a slow burn as he continues to get games throughout the season which he will.

Out: Scott and Jones
In: Madden and Steele

Leaves me with Poulter/Jordan, Madden/Waterman and Highmore/Jones as my 3 rookies on field, as well as 94k in the bank. 11 trades left, but what can you do!
