If Hall and co. would kick the bloody ball to Powell I'd keep him I think. He could pump out a big one today against the Saints. Should I hold or trade? I know he is leaking dollars but just have a feeling he will pump out a goodn'.

I had that feeling last week and ended up trading him. I'm not sure what his tog was last week but certainly it was down the game before with Dumont back. Sometimes you just need to let go and thank them for their time but also depends on who would take his spot in yr team. There's no chance IMO he makes his BE now so the question is whether you keep him to run through the byes and handle a potential hemorrage of cash or use the cash now to upgrade.

Hasn't that always been the knock on Petracca?
Big reason he performed so well last season was the shorter quarters.
His minutes are high though versus last year which would have suggested he has gained the fitness. Although the point is whether this is misleading, is he playing more forward in 2H or just fatigued yet on the ground. Maybe he would benefit from greater bench time.

Yeah, thanks NT. I was just short of getting Steele and Trac for Jordon and Powell, so I traded McNeil for Trac last night. Glad I kept Jordon now! Anyway if I trade Powell now I will have $437,500 to play with and I don't want to close out my Def or For line just yet, and no mid I am ecstatic about at that price, and I have a full team playing, so don't really want Madden. So not sure what to do?

I think it might be a bit of a relative game - the minutes obviously need to be played by someone, so it could be more a question of whether he’s better able to handle the minutes than his teammates, than whether the longer minutes are something that suit him in absolute terms. Gold Coast were playing Burgess in the ruck more out of necessity than because he was suited to it :)

It looks like Melbourne have quite a few players that have had low TOG in recent weeks - Jordon, Melksham, Chandler, Weideman, ANB, Petty, Spargo, Jackson, Rivers and Jones have all had games at 75% or below, some of them fairly consistently.

BE of 115 and has already lost $25k in a week, probably time to cash in now.

I've done double down with an eye to building the bank for the byes as well as hopefully securing a couple of rookies with the best JS. I was happy to pay a little premium for this peace of mind

Gulden/Scott > Jones/Weightman

Leaves me 550k

Had considered trading JordOn but glad I made the call not too, he will get cashed in come round 14.

I am still overweight with round 14 bye players so may even cash in Berry/Rowe to a round 12 bye player next week, assuming there is a viable option available

Yes I'm overweight R14 as well. So Berry is going R13 a here as well. Rowe I went way too early on already....

Scared is an understatement
Happy though as it’s my initial trade from Monday and maintained it all week

But happy to take a punt in trying to get a higher rank over being conservative and fittering out to a 1000kish finish

This is how I am prior to trading, basically 6 upgrades left with 13 trades so in a bit of trouble, advice on how best to go about it would be appreciated. View attachment 30511
If you plan to use 2 trades this week and 3 each week though the byes then you will only have 2 trades left after round 14.

If you can conjure a plan that has 5-6 trades left post byes then that is more likely to leave you well placed to cover injuries even if you are a Premo short of fully upgraded.

I would keep CJ as D6 and swing Laird to defence whenever one of you current back 6 gets injured. Otherwise you could be wasting a valuable trade.

I would concentrate on midfield upgrades so you don’t leak as many points to 7 and 8 premium midfields.

With your current fattened rookies you should be able to go 4 down, 3 up and using current and expected prices work out how much you have to spend on each MID premium assuming each rookie downgrade is for $140k.

If the total of premium funds available is say $1.65 million, or $550k apiece that means if you spend $650k for the first one there may only be $500k each for the next 2.

Good luck.

Yeah that's an akward amount and it's hard to resist the temptation to the best available at that price which is usually a big mistake. Nothing wrong with keeping Powell, he's a better player than his last 2 weeks SC scores show but now it's just about his tog and role and whether he's showing signs of fatigue and needs a rest. I know whatever decision I'd make it would be wrong and it would eat me up. That money would be superr handy though with 3 trades next week if you can manage your team through this week.

I'm not sold on Madden either FWIW but that's mainly because I have no idea of his role and whether he's a place holder for others to come back. I'd rather wait andd see on Bianco. Madden just feels like the type off player you trade in and get a week or two out of and then sits docile on your bench, I caan't afford that right now.

Cheers mate. Cerra may be the one if I decide to trade, may just hang on to Powell and see what happens!
Thanks for your responses, appreciated.(y)

His role was fine last night, he just didn't get hands on the ball at all. Had a few where he just copped bad bounces, a couple where Libba intercepted the hitout targeted at him, a couple where the Demons' players turned the other way when he was shooting past as a handball target. Bigger issue I had was that he was definitely doing his best Dusty impression of only tackling things standing next to him and not working to pressure which probably left a good 3 or 4 tackles on the board and from those tackles comes a touch or two as well.

He was really good in Q4 still as well. There wasn't anything to me suggesting fitness or role issues, just one of those games where he had a patch of the game where he failed to get the ball and I'd honestly say it was mostly bad luck.

Also to be fair, he's actually scored great in DT all season, which is a better indicator of being fit and working through the 4 quarters than SC often, it's been disposal/decision issues for the most part that has culled his SC so it was great to see him use the ball well last night and making good decisions for the most part as well as not trying to do too much with it and give the first hands option.

End of the day, 105 from a guy priced around 103 isn't a bad result... just hoping for more
