ROUND 12 PREVIEW
Round 12 has arrived, and it is about to get diabolical! This year the SuperCoach gods have chosen to put the Premier League coaches, all holding confidence that they will gain ground over the bye rounds, to the test. A sprinkling of Covid-19 uncertainty, a dash of popular ruck outages and a drop of rookie restings is sure spice things up as coaches try to outwit each other with their emergency planning. Upsets will be there for the taking with coaches focussing on different paths to navigate this rocky period. Who will have the luxury of having their four lowest scores drop off? Who will be stretching to get 18 players on the field? Who will use all three trades available? Who will be caught out this week by to focussing more on the following two rounds? The only certainty this week is that Chris Scott won’t be upsetting anyone with his last-minute selection shenanigans.
Match of the Round
There is no denying that Coach Jay and Coach Tom deserve match of the round status with both teams going for their sixth win in seven weeks. With both teams separated by just 4 points on the ladder this is set up to be one of those classic 8-point encounters. Coach Jay looks to have the early upper hand through the benefit of getting to have his lowest score drop off and three extra premiums on field. However, Coach Tom’s recent form and fighting spirit cannot be dismissed lightly.
Prediction: SuperCoachScores to benefit from the extra depth this round and win by 103
Other Matches
Coach Ben will be bursting with confidence after getting back onto the winners list last week, whilst Coach Keith will be looking for some revenge after going down in a thriller against another top 4 hopeful. Both teams look evenly matched with only a handful of PODS, meaning that this match will be much closer than ladder positions would suggest.
Prediction: Courtesans to do just enough to keep top 4 aspirations alive and win by 29
Coach Mark came oh so close to knocking off the top team last week and should be taking some new found confidence into this week. However, he looks to only have 17 players available so he may need to look for some new stock to give himself a chance. Coach Adrian was pipped at the post after a couple of strong performances and will be hoping last week was just a once off and not a new norm. Both teams have a similar number of premiums sitting on the pine, but Coach Adrian looks to have more big bodies available for selection.
Prediction: The Darkness to get up in scrappy win by 72
Coach Phil will be smarting after going down when playing so well last week, whilst Coach Jack is looking for his third win on the trot as he tries to solidify a top 4 position. With both coaches ranked inside the top 3,000 this has potential to be a bruising battle. However, Coach Phil looks a little better set up for this round with Coach Jack needing to hit that trade button if he wants to even up the playing numbers.
Prediction: Philzsay to benefit from the numbers advantage and win by 126
Coach David will be looking to turn things around after some poor recent from. As the coach of the only team in the PL without Grundy he will be trying to use that to his advantage this week. Meanwhile, ladder leading Coach Adrian will be taking a long hard look at his team after almost going down to the bottom team last round. A huge amount of PODs in this one should keep things interesting for most of the weekend.
Prediction: TailsPower to do just enough to get the job done and win and win by 27
The rivalry continues as these two promoted teams who finished in the top 4 of PL2 last year try to emulate that performance in the higher league this year. Coach Andrew will be trying to break the win loss win loss win momentum that is setting in whilst Coach Ashley will be aiming for his third win on the trot. Another match up with similar numbers on field should keep this one tight throughout the weekend.
Prediction: Diabolical Rabble to benefit from less premiums benched this week and win a thriller by 10
Coach Iain is hitting some serious form since proclaiming he wouldn’t win another game for the season. A 3 point loss followed by two comfortable wins with huge scores have followed, making him now one of the most feared teams in the league. Coach James will be looking to tighten his defence after allowing the highest score to be kicked against him last week. He is also going to have to make some difficult recruiting decisions as he currently only looks like fielding 16 players.
Prediction: Brownie’s Bandits to continue recent form and win by 95
This one is shaping up as another one of those season defining 8 point games with both teams currently sitting 4 points outside the top 8. Coach Jason will be bringing a lot of confidence after knocking off the in form Jibrangers last round whilst Coach Matt will be trying to turn things around and bounce back from a diabolical loss! Both teams look like they should get good numbers on field this week and there are enough PODs to keep things interesting throughout the weekend.
Prediction: Jaca’s Attackers to benefit from more premiums on field and win by 84
Two traditional PL heavyweights battling it out will make for essential viewing despite both teams currently sitting outside the top 8. Coach Sho was stopped in his tracks last week after posting four straight wins. Coach Tim can’t buy a win despite being the third highest ranked coach in the league. Team structures for this round look similar, and with just 7 POD’s, a single player’s good score could be what makes the difference.
Prediction: Goodie’s Guns to turn the luck around and win a nail biter by 5
