858 this round. Tried for something a bit different to the front runners and came up 13 points (and a lot of cash generation short). Surprised at how much those drivers/teams with negative break evens increased. Need to come up with something innovative the next couple of rounds to make some gains on the leaders in our league with significantly less cash to play with than they will have.......

I've prepared some driver and teams break evens going into round 8 (which is this weekend). Plenty of good options still available.

Drivers: Tsunoda -23, Vettel -8, Gasly -3, Gio 1, Perez 11, Schumacher 15, Mazepin 16, Alonso 17, Russell 19, Kimi 29, Latifi 32, Stroll 32, Dan Ric 35, Ocon 57, Norris 59, Leclerc 66, Sainz 95, Bottas 116, Max 119, Hamilton 176

Teams: Alpha -7, Haas 12, Aston 13, Alfa 23, Williams 29, McLaren 53, Alpine 62, Red Bull 74, Ferrari 92, Mercedes 184

Ferrari are unlikely to reach their BE (though they did go past 92 at Imola and Monaco). It's highly unlikely Mercedes will achieve their BE also with ~170 being maximum points in a round (they achieved 172 in Portugal and Max achieved 170 in France). That means Lewis won't be adding much value either, but a good weekend for Bottas could see his price increase.

How do I fit all of the Mercedes drivers and cars in next round?
The short answer is you can't without trading out Red Bull drivers and cars. A team consisting of only Red and Mercedes drivers and cars would currently cost $210M and even with excellent cash generation so far, it's unlikely your team is worth more than $170M-175M. So you'll still be carrying around cheap drivers and teams. But it's also worth considering:

1. Is 3 trades next round enough? If you are planning on making 3 upgrades next round, you may need to consider one or more downgrade trades this round, so you have sufficient cash in the bank.
2. Should I get Mercedes drivers/teams now? If they go well, its extra points and minimal price decreases. If they have a double DNF, it's a points loss, they lose value and you know other coaches will be getting them in even cheaper.
3. What 'cheap' drivers/teams will you be able to afford? Picking $3M drivers/teams will help with cash for upgrades elsewhere, but they rarely increase significantly in value, which means you could be stuck with them for the remainder of the season.

This is the one killing me. Up until this round I would have taken the value hit for the points but with Max taking pole and (probably) having the pace to win if he held a 1 stop strategy, on a circuit which supposedly favoured Merc, is leaving me unsure.

Expect I'll take more of a points hit, but hopefully adds some $$

I invested/wasted some time on this yesterday. Visually my team is better with a Merc or Hamilton in there so that'll do 😁

One thing I was thinking about is that taking Ham or Merc essentially kills a money making spot. Is there enough cash gen opportunity from one less driver/team spot to land a maxed out Merc/Red Bull line up? Seeing as we're something like 30m short, maybe we cant get there anyway? Dunno... rambling now...

The current pecking order appears to be Max, Lewis, Bottas and Perez. Yes Perez beat Bottas at the last race but given that was all strategy driven and only happened 2-3 laps from the end, it's hard to say Perez was quicker than Bottas. A late safety car changes everything. Fair to say both Bottas and Perez will need to yield positions to Max/Lewis should that situation come up.

Vettel/Aston Martin are potentially a bit of a trap now. Vettel's average outside of Monaco/Baku is 12. Aston Martin's average outside of Monaco/Baku is 28 (and if Stroll qualifies properly in France that average is likely sub 25). They should hit their BE but the $2M increases from last round are unlikely to happen again. Both would also be a must sell immediately next round. But the Ferrari components do have to go.

It's definitely worth trying to plan trades in advance and if that means bringing in Hamilton or Mercedes this round then so be it. The cash generation is about to become significantly more difficult. Red Bull cars and drivers have gone from being money makers to get to Mercedes to keepers in their own right.

The game is also designed to be balanced in terms of dollars gained/lost each round. So right now cheaper cars/drivers are gaining value as Mercedes is losing dollars. But once Mercedes stops losing value, you'll find it harder to find gains elsewhere.

Yeah mate. I have Vettel (thanks for the 2 mil!) and I'm thinking of trading him out. Either Ham for the points or Yuki for the $s. Its not pressing but those Ham points would be golden or the $s would be super useful...
