Down to 4th for me with 2262. Whitfield the icing on the cake of a very ordinary round.

Amazingly I stayed alive in the eliminator which is fun. Now up against the team who came 2nd this round, so hopefully they have a hangover.

Whole thing still seems very open, with 12 teams within 300 points of the leader. A few weak points in most of the top teams so I wouldn't be surprised if someone comes home with a rush.

Interesting decision with Whitfield now, with all eyes on the fixture. If I could get him straight to Mills I would do it but I'm a few k short and I don't love any of the other options.

Also have Langford and Whitfield and not many trades up my sleeve.

Think I will stick with Whitfield and hope he returns given I already have all of Mills, Laird, Crisp and Lloyd so I'm looking at Rich/Salem/Stewart otherwise.

Would love to get Dunkley back into my team as he was in my starting squad but do have to wonder how he returns given he hasn't played any practice games so would think he returns a little rusty.

I was originally hoping for Danger to get sub 95 so I could afford him which I can now for Langford however De Goey is serious competition now.

De Goey's last 5 scores have been 117, 123, 106, 78, 109 = 106.8 average
Danger on returning from his ankle - 89, 149, 94, 82, 51. Remove the first game back from injury and he's at a 101 average but it's really just that one huge game against Essendon.

Neither fill me with great confidence for playing the remaining games as De Goey is injury prone and Danger at his age and Geelong's position could easily get a rest too.

Extra 45k in hand is pretty tempting but De Goey seems like such hot/cold player... Dammit Langford!

15/1611 Wines (no trades left)
Martin, Bailey and Highmore my worst scores

Taranto, Flynn, Idun🥲,Laird, Ridley, Perkins and Ziebel to come

Idun has been shocking the last 2 weeks, with Markov out injured, had to play him or Kosi
Hope Perkins reproduces last weeks score of 91, but probably get about half of that
Flynn as the one out Ruck hopefully he scores well

Finished 2166, won’t get near that for the rest of the year

No trades and plenty of injuries, donuts incoming for the rest of the year

Going to be a crawl on the run home it feels.

Got a couple of trades left and with no cash in hand, trying to turn Martin into something is near impossible. Very much considering using a trade to cash in Brockman and moving Martin to De Goey. Probably gains me 20 points a week = 100 points.

100 points is pretty decent however I make that up by trading anyone else that is set to miss two weeks vs a rookie or maybe even more if I don't have the cover.

Also banking on Kelly playing and Bianco not needing a rest or anything. Times like these I wish I didn't waste trades on bringing Heeney in and out in a few weeks.

I was thinking a similar thing with dunkley as the in but with him not available I'm not sure anyone else is worth it. Though I had been banking on Marshall being available and that has blanked too. Tough one ...

Yeah my first plan was looking at trying to cash in Bramble next week to grab Dunkley as he was out of reach otherwise.

Then when Kelly went down, was looking at grabbing Neale which would give me the cash required to take Marshall.

That said, I was so damn close to grabbing De Goey last week over Dangerfield (for Langford) and was kicking myself when I saw Marshall pull a 120 and get just out of my reach.

De Goey is pretty damn appealing to me me right now though. Last 6 games he's going at a 109 average. Thing that looks the most appealing to me in that period is he's only kicked 5.6 so he's not really kicking bags to post big scores. He's averaging 27.5 touches in that period (31, 29, 32, 32, 15,26) so he's got himself a nice role change right now. Probably the most concerning part for me is his marking which seems insanely high at an average of 9.1 (12, 10, 9, 4, 9, 11) which is hard to see him maintaining that (although he has for a good 6 week block now).

Whether a trade is worth more/less than 100 odd points is probably the question. I feel like it's probably worth more at this point however I would love to have his scores in my side over the alternative options for Martin that I can afford.

Personally I think a trade is definitely worth more than 100 points at this stage. It depends on circumstances, but I reckon there are a lot of coaches who would happily buy one at double that, even based on what we know so far.
